Guess I better leave the Jeep home and rent a bus. LOL

What days are you coming out?

LOL

The initial plan is for the truck with rigs to arrive on Sunday. Depending on flights she could arrive anytime on Sunday or Monday or however it might work out. I think she would fly back on Saturday or Sunday. I would like to wait til Sunday to leave for the drive home. Gives us Saturday to recover from Friday nights party.

Not sure what my schedule will be for this trip yet. We have a couple of HUGE trips lined up this year and a group of us are talking about making a big expo type trip to get to Moab. We might only end up spending a couple of days in Moab itself...like Friday and Saturday. Getting to Moab might take us five to six days depending on how we route it. Right now it looks like we might make a big loop starting on the west side of Canyonlands and working our way south, then up the east side and into Moab. All on dirt....590 miles of dirt.

I've got some friends coming from overseas to hang out with us when we go to Colorado. They are talking about buying an older XJ, putting it in my name and letting me insure it so they can drive it instead of renting. If they do this I'm going to try and talk them into letting me buy it from them to have another rig around. If I do this, you guys (Arron and your wife) would me more than welcome to drive it down. Or if that doesn't work there will be tons of people from our chapter going that could give you guys a ride.

Realizing I have the entire summer off more or less, I'm starting to plan a chapter-wide trip...

Pssshh.

I see no issues for a daily driver. The 0331 head thing is way overblown. Just don't overheat it. If you aren't lifting it the lp front end isn't an issue.

The only thing with an 01 is the stupid pre cats. Expect to get about 4 mpg less than an 00 or anything older.

True, but generally people who don't know XJs sell them for less because they're older, AND you just plain don't have to worry. A clean unibody trumps a better year obviously, but given the choice between a 00/01 with cali emissions or a 99, and an unknown history of maintenance and cooling system issues/lack thereof, I'll take the 99 any day.

Put this in layaway today at Walmart. Since it was a display model and had some chipped paint on the corner, got it for 135.

this.

Jennie's 01 is probably the nicest running and best put together XJ I've come across.

The returnless system and COP make a 4.0 run like it shouldn't. Starts instantly, get's 20 MPG (Hand calculated, GPS for mileage, 70+ MPH freeway for 13 hours)and has pep.

You guys know I loves the Renix, but the late models are better built, just a bit more complex. the LP axle didn't stop Jennie from wheeling it in Harlan, or pulling wheels off the ground ;)

I've had too much crap for being 21 years old.

-'87 BMW
-'94 Dodge Spirit
-'96 ZJ
-'94 ZJ
-'86 CJ7
-99 WJ
-01 Alero
-'96 Camry

Driven/test driven more than I can remember.

buy a 99, not an 00/01...

when i decided to sell the durango i knew i was going to buy a 97+ xj as my daily driver, with in a few days one got traded in at work. perfectly good body, clean, decent miles, and pretty. kinda felt like it was meant to be.

was going to wait till i had it home tomorrow but might as well now since im talking about it

heres some pics

the only real issues would be that there are 2 moldings missing but rew is going to give me his old ones, and the job said they will hook me up with paint. the front tires need to be replaced pretty bad, but i decided im going to throw my 2in bb lift i already have and put some 30in tires on there.
after we got it in they allowed me to take it home which was cool because i have a 30mile eway drive so i really got to test it.
the plan for this is the 2in bb lift and 30in tires and just be my main family mobile for now.
