if the entertainment industry ever tanks again like 2008 (went 1 year with only 2 jobs in a theatre) then im going to go to the local community college to do their short welding program. everyone and their dog is looking for welders around here...even part time or diy welders....and the more i use my welder, the more i like it. the sound of the arc and the complete darkness in the helmet is surprisingly zen...i built a few things for a buddy before i left and after i was done, i just welded some of the extra metal together for fun :)

and for mac, th and you other indiana guys...in relation to my last post. why the hell is gas so much more expensive in eastern indiana than western indiana on i80??? its seriously usually about $.50 more a gallon!

I wish I knew, Indianapolis is usually cheaper and once you get past Il. it is usually cheaper. South, you drive an hour and it is .20 cents cheaper normally.

If I am going up to Brad's to go wheeling I usually stop at the pilot in Whiteland to gas up, usually its cheaper than the gas station by my house. Lately though its been a lot more. I usually just go to Sam's club to get gas since its about the cheapest around here.

Flexd'Using less gas is awesome but I still hate neons'XJ
 
If I change jobs I will sell the farm and equipment that I own and I am going to take my assets to southern Missouri and operate a boat dock...and only hire hotties for deck hands.

All jokes aside, Camille and I have always said our retire plan that we are working towards is to be set up for me at 57 and her at 55 (that is the magic number for us in years of service and benefits) and we should have the farms in good enough shape that we can turn things over to Case to start taking over (if he so inclines) and we will move to a lake house in southern Missouri for most the year and come home for winter and helping with the feeding operations etc....and I will be home to plant and harvest, he can take care of the day to day stuff. As we all know, plans do change, but that is wht we are working twoards right now...and also I might add, not factoring in a single red cent of soicial security, just our private and land investments.

Dad drove truck for 20+ years, he was gone a lot but made the best of it when he was home. Last few years of it he became a local driver to spend more time with us and it was alright, not as good of pay, but he was home every night. One thing to keep in mind is that trucking (I'm sure Dan can attest to this) is HARD on the body. If you're an OTR guy its even worse. That is Dad's only complaint about the job... That and those darn Lot-Lizards.... ;-)
 
If I go somewhere with my girlfriend in Indy, she will usually fill up before we leave. Her Roque gets almost 30 mpg so it doesn't use but a 1/4 of a tank to get there and back. Last Saturday when we went to St. Louis, it took one tank there and back. If we go to Holiday World or someplace south, we fill up at the Pilot on 41 in Haubstout. It is normally .20 cents cheaper there. We take her SUV as much as we can because it gets much better gas mileage then my XJ. The further south you go, the cheaper it gets. When I went to Tuscaloosa on a mission trip with my church, the van was a big 15 passenger one and it sucked the gas, but it was .50 cents less once you got into Kentucky.
 
Trying to get the 2001 F250 transferred to the Onalaska Dealership by Friday night Saturday... Would be better if it was a CrewCab, but seeing as we're not planning on having kids for the next 2-3 yrs minimum, I think I'll be okay with it...

Talked with a Rep and there are some 'issues' with the truck.
Rear Pinion seal leak (shouldn't be hard to fix)

Steering Wheel not centered
Pull to the Left
Tire 'Shimmy'
I'm thinking it probably needs an alignment and maybe a tie-rod?

Front brakes need replacement - Big deal

POSSIBLE REAR MAIN SEAL OIL LEAK -- this I'm concerned about... Anyone done one of these before? I would figure its more likly coming from up top somewhere, thought the 7.3 rear seals were pretty stout...


Knowing all of this, think this is still worth it??

If you can find something else to drive and find something, I would. If the owner traded it in, it might have been a troublesome truck.

I got money on te high pres oil pump line o-rings. That's what my oil leak was, $20 and and hour. Look in the valley on top if there is oil that's most likely what it is.

Thats what Ive been reading/heard of, Looking at it 8am on Saturday.
 
if the oil pan needs to be pulled on the 7.3 it is a huge job. i believe the motor needs to be pulled. we just did one in the shop because another shop didn't want to deal with it.

I unload my trailer 1 case at a time, thus creating huge issues with my back.

I've never seen a lot lizard, but I'm local. I hear they make good money
