I was taught that a ground impact gives minimal EMP contained within the blast zone due to the earth absorbing the EMP. An air does give more EMP but never heard of it amplifying EMP from a sub space explosion that it would wipe out the US infrastructure I will be doing some reading.

This guy is local to me. Food grade plastic storage containers with a metal pallet cage. He only charges 60 bucks for 275 gallons.

You just have to find something like that local.

Bringing this up to Meganne's dad today. The guy he leases his business warehouse from has quite a few of those things. I'll get prices for anybody who's interested. Edit: $40/ea. Though it is unknown to me what was stored in them. Sterilization may be required.

I am heating the house with wood this winter and live in a house that looks abandoned, all I have to do to bug in is lock the doors, cover the windows on the first floor, and turn out the lights.
I would stock up stuff on the 2nd floor and board up the staircase at the top of the stairs once you bug in.
My neighbor on one side is a marine who just got back from afghanistan, on the other side is a well armed redneck from florida, and to the north is a short haul trucker. I am on decent or good terms with all of them and none of them stand any kind of bullshit on their properties.
You need to get a working relationship with these guys. Let them know how smart you are so they barter with you instead of take you out for your supplies.

No doubt! .50 cal ammo cans are at an all-time high of nearly $20 at Fleet Farm here. I bought a few for $8.xx just a few months ago.


I was really banking on having my M4 built before the end of the year. Not for the Dec 21 junk, but just my personal goal. I found out this morning that lead time on my back ordered lower receiver is 4-8mo. 1 down... Looks like I probably won't be shooting 5.56 this year.

Living on a farm of size like yours is very advantageous tyler.

Like Dan has said just because the name of my town has city in it doesn't mean i live in the city. The closest city of size to me is Grand rapids, which is just over an hour away.

Me and the wife talked about it and the first thing we would do is take the truck to a local farm and kill one of thier cows.

Also storing water in those giant skid tubs is great but A) I can't fir that in my basement and B) I am not going to have one in my backyard. I am going to look more into water storage on google tonight.

Like others said this doesnt't scare me at all, I love watching end of the world movies and deciding ways that I could do better.

I rate it a little higher than 0% chance. heres my theroy, zombies have become such a popular thing that "zombie cults" everywhere just wish it would happen. what if someday there is a super nerd out there that loves the idea of zombies so much that he tries to make one, AND THEN HE DOES!! that's what i have always assumed would be the cause of a real world zombie outbreak.

Is it likely? not really. is it possible? sure.

now the thing i tell my happy go lucky wife is that i joke when i talk about zombies taking over the world BUT i am 100% certain that in my lifetime(im 28) summins gunna go down

I'm quickly learning never to turn down an opportunity to apply for a grant... So far this week, I've ordered $2,800 in new shop equipment through grant monies. The other teacher in my department says he hasn't seen someone get so many applications accepted.

In the spring I get an opportunity to apply for 'big ticket items'. For me that = Brand new Tire balancer, you know, road-force, laser precision accuracy, the works...

I have a looong ways to go before I would say that myself... This program has been in a static state for almost 10 years. Much of the equipment has been abused, broken, or simply outdated. I have found 3 floor jacks, 1 works sometimes. All of the torque wrenches are broken and have been set fully maxed for who knows how long... Out tire balancer is a COATS 850...

I have a long ways to go, but these grants will help me get there, hopefully...

Yes, this is my meal ticket, I am the only Autos program in the district so they could easily cut it, if they saw a reason to. The only problem is I'm spending all my time trying to get things back into running order that I haven't really touched the actual curriculum. The texts I'm using were published in 2000... It may seem not that long ago, but if you start reading you soon realize how outdated it is.

The school district is trying to go away from textbooks; they want teachers to 'write' their own. While it is a noble idea, it isn't for all content areas. Now I need to decide whether to spend some of my own department money now to get new texts, or 'go with the flow' and somehow compile my own...

There is many classes I wish I would took in high school, automotive stuff is one of them. My high school had the shop for mechanical stuff, North high school had the body shop I believe. You could take both I believe if you wanted to.
