My students tried to give me a heart attack today...

Students - "Mr. Lee, why isn't my project working?"
Me - "Check the solder connections for cold joints, bridges, etc?"
*Smoke is now coming from batteries*
Students - "Mr. Lee, the batteries are getting really hot?"
Me - "Drop it, get back!"
*Projects fall to table, batteries explode*
Me - This is what happens when you solder the (+) and (-) wires to the same, joined terminals...

perhaps this is a good time to have a segway into fuses and circuit protection.

Sounds like a supervision problem. :looney:
 
Yes, fuses, fuse-able links, etc...

This is a small project, with very clear directions. This is an upper level achievement class, so the students are aware of whats going on and what they need to accomplish. It was clearly a mistake of not paying attention to what they were doing when soldering on the battery packs.

Yes I have 242 in the garage that's why polar was saying that about the 2wd...

Ah, well its got 90k miles on it and he wants $150. He lives near indianapolis. You should buy it so he has more money to put toward my MJ. Its in the middle of a bed delete, 44/9 swap and 5.5" lift......oh and a propane 350 swap! :D the quicker it gets done, the quicker I get to drive my old truck!

I pull up to autozone by my house and as I do two guys are walking out. I hear the alarm going off for something being taken. They see me in my car and turn right around and walk back in. While I'm getting oil and such the autozone guys are laughing cause they found a couple of items in the wrong spot and thank me.
