Important

anyway,my buddy that works at cabela's (timmys father inlaw) showed me this gun any one have any shooting time behind one of those? he said it was better than the Springfield i was looking at. and it felt nice in my hand. i kinda feel like TH here but when i get the money i will either buy that or this Springfield
Both FN and Springfield make a quality weapon. If your decision has come down to those two, pick the one that you're most comfortable with. See if that range near you rents them to try. If you can't decide based on feel, go with intent. If you intend to carry, go with the one you will be most comfortable with on your hip. Usually the thinner and lighter one. You can also consider caliber and capacity. If all of those comparisons are a wash and you still can't decide, go with what's cheaper. But don't be afraid to go try out a half dozen or so different weapons to decide what you want. Buy it once. Just my .02.
Gonna have to research said Ruger, nothing I own just fits into my pocket.
Didn't you see my Ruger .380? It's pretty well the same as Flex's LC9 but a touch smaller in size and caliber.
Two firsts for me yesterday:
1st time on the Milwaukee Mile. 1st time in a NASCAR race car.

My GF bought me a Rusty Wallace race experience package last XMAS. Got to use it yesterday. 12 laps with other folks on the track also. After the initial passing practice runs, we were let loose on our own with just a spotter in the other side of the radio.

I have no idea how fast I was going, the car has no speedo, but it was a good time. :D
That sounds like an intense time! I'm jealous. Didn't they give you a printout of your lap times/speeds? Hopefully you broke triple digits at the least.
Not carrying a round in the chamber is about as good as carrying a hammer around in your pocket. That's what the holster and safety is for.
Fo sho!! "Excuse me, Mr. Badguy...would you mind not assaulting me until I have chambered a round, please?"

They're already trying to take advantage of you. I don't want to make it any easier, just harder.

Thinking more and more about the not having a round in the tube thing... There was an officer who came up with the distance and time it takes an experience knife fighter to close that gap and have knife in you compared with the time it takes to draw your weapon and accurately fire a round.

Sgt. Dennis Tueller of Salt Lake City Police Department conducted experiments to determine the time it takes an attacker with a knife in his hand to assault a person. By standing shooter and knife fighter back to back, having the knife fighter take off in a sprint on the same go as the shooter draws and accurately fires his weapon, Tueller was able to find out what distance you need to be able to defend yourself, 21ft, 1.5 seconds. Therefore anything under 21 feet is considered to be in the zone of 'imminent danger of death or great bodily harm."

That's really not a lot of time. If you have to draw your weapon, advance a round into the chamber and fire accurately after you have recognized the threat, you're likely in a world of hurt before drawing a bead on the BG.

I carry with one in the tube. But that's just me.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree. I won't walk around with one in the chamber, The revolver I have no choice.

And that's fine. I wouldn't expect you to protect yourself in a manner to make me happy. Haha! It's certainly a personal choice.

I do carry with the safety off, I would rather chamber a round(witch I can do in my sleep) than fart around with the safety.

Neither my Glock 22 or my Ruger LCP .380 have an external safety. I always carry with one in the chamber. Otherwise I'll just carry a hammer in the carpenter loop on my jeans.

Oh Noes he has kids! They know not to touch Dad's guns and they are always secured well out of their reach when not being carried (which really isn't that often; the Ruger goes everywhere I go and the Glock is with me when on duty). Weapons training isn't just for the one carrying it, it extends to the rest of the family.

Flex, I'm thinking you should invest in a carry holster.

That entire pocket/stuff it down the pants thing is for gangsas or for Indiana folks who don't know that the end of their belt goes in a belt loop, not dangling in front of their crotch ;)

Seriously though, I'd be afraid of loosing it. Then you have a gun, registered to you, loose. What if some kid picks it up and shoots their eye (and everything behind it) out with it? You'd feel bad, right? A holster does the job of your piece of mind and if done right, access.

Ummmm, you mean like this one?

This ain't my first rodeo, Ron.

so with all the gun talk today and hearing how bad some you guys have it i decided to hop in my truck and go to cabelas. took all of 6-7 minutes to get there, prolly 3-4 if i didn't throw 25 bucks in the gas tank. on my route i also passed the local gun shop that has an indoor range. that store is in walking distance from home. which with the proper permit you could walk there with your pistol and fire off a box full of ammo.

whats that about Indiana Sammy?

Edit: how do you make the links just words like some people do? thought i knew but it didn't work.

Edit2: fingered it out :D

meanwhile in i dont own a gun world...

We can argue about who makes the best holster all day long. The fact is if that works for you & mine works for me, we will just leave it at that.

By the way any picture posted above is not an admission that I personally own any firearms.

Yeah, so many options for holsters. It works fine and I do have a leather/kydex holster for my other pistol.

I need to find a holster for my M&P. It can't have any metal that will touch my skin I would prefer one that can be IWB or OWB. I have skin allergys to nickle and cobalt. Where ever metal sits on my skin it causes a major itchy rash that takes weeks to go away. Makes wearing glasses a little bit of an issue.

Got to the range twice this weekend. Only was able to put 150rds through it but any range time is good range time right. Getting more accurate with it each time out.
