Important

A lot of people do it, I just prefer bushings(IRO trackbar) since its a DD. I know it would be OK with heims but bushings are cheap!
It's not my daily driver, I have 2 other Jeeps for that. But if I have to go out of town & can't take the Camry, the XJ is the most realible ride. I want to keep it that way, which means, If you break shit, you build it better.

well i hope collin can get the deal done...hell for 1000 even if the head is bad, as long as the motor is sound its probably worth it. doesn't look like there is any rust, so it should be good to go. good luck cheeseman, i wish the gal would have gotten ahold of me before 10pm last night and i would have checked it out. ah well...here's to goldie part deux

Lots of stuff going on here in a couple days. We had a lot of family make the trip here. 5 from Michigan, 2 from Indiana and 2 more from Madison. So the house was uber busy on Friday night.

My mom and Grandma are leaving soon. Down to 2 visitors. I'll be glad when our house goes back to normal.

Good job with the rig, Hobag! Family > Buggy.

Good luck, Tyler. We would all love to see you in another XJ.

Andy, I almost creamed when I saw that F50. Looks like you had a good time.

Craig, good work with the training program. Your results look really good. I'd like to have that kind of program. Though the diet would be really difficult.

Josh, here's my diet program, one meal a day & all they beer you can drink. wORKS FOR ME.

I could of looked at it for ya
Would you be looking at it after one or two adult beverages Silent Bob? :D :D :D :D

"Oh it has a cracked head and no floors, sure I'll take it!"

Just giving you shit Michael.

I'll let you all know how it turns out, going to look at it in a few minutes.

**** an 01 242.

stupid chrysler. why'd they change it? so easy to get an output seal done on my old POS.

Hey now, I take offense to that comment. I CAN recognize a turd when I see it, even after a few Bud's.

you like how you can't reuse the dust shield/slinger?

Part numbers you might want to order, from outside of case to inside -
4798 122 - metal clip holding dust boot to slip yoke (I use stainless steel zip ties from the home depot wiring aisle. this is a $10 or so clip from the dealer)
4798 123 - dust boot if needed
4798 121 - metal clip holding dust boot to output shaft (stainless steel zip tie again)
5016 615AA - dust slinger, presses onto shaft, aint that great?
J813 4488 - goofy little clips and stuff that keep the dust slinger from going too far down the shaft and hitting the seal
4798 117 - seal, you likely already have this
4798 116 - big snap ring behind seal, appears to hold bearing into output housing
J813 4488 (again) - clip that appears to hold the bearing onto the output shaft

Pretty sad when a HnT SYE kit is likely not much more than the pile of nickle and dime OEM parts required to replace the seal.

yeah, if this thing wasn't pissing fluid all over I'd just wait for josh to send me the HnT that's sitting in his garage.

I got the seal, tailshaft bushing, slinger in the cart. I'll add the c clip, cause I'll probably break it and the gooofy clips.. I was going to use zip ties on the boot, but I took them off clean, I could re use them.

My ancient 231 with the seal on the slip yoke is so not a problem, and I can do the output seal in like 30 minutes. This thing is BS. I'm not even sure what purpose the oil slinger serves given it's behind a seal. The only thing is does is sling oil directly onto the cat.

yeah with some luck you can get the rubber boot off, I've got zip ties on the MJ (it has a late style transfer case...) and stainless steel ties on the 98 XJ.

The oil slinger's purpose is to keep dust and debris away from the seal lip so it lasts longer, I think. I'm not entirely sure.

Now that I think about it, a late model hack n tap won't even replace these parts :( it's too bad a real SYE isn't available for the 242, because that would.

Just bought an aluminum forearm for my saiga. The shop is in Myrtle Beach, so it should be here on wednesday.

Days like these are why every Jeep owner should have a wrangler! Nice day for a club picnic too! :D

Anybody watching this "one car to far" on discovery?

Its been on for 15the minutes and these guys are already pissing me off. I would love to do it though.

Wanted to but forgot when it was on. Waiting on newsroom to come on
