Josh, You are going to UW, trust them, Harrison is in the best medical hands there are!
The doctors at Mayo and other places go there to learn.
Be patient and trust them.
They saved my life twice now...

So we took Harrison to Madison for genetics testing yesterday to try and narrow down his eye issues. Or so we thought. Wound up getting a high school biology refresher on the passing of the X chromosome, how chromosomes are made of DNA and how DNA is made of proteins.

Other than a once over, there was no testing or looking at Harrison.

They said they want to see us in 6 months with Meganne's mom's retinal pictures and have Meganne examined for comparison to Harrison.

Great...another 6 months of not knowing if there is anything wrong with my kid. It was really discouraging to drive the 5hr round trip for really nothing.

One of my Marines has a daughter who was diagnosed with menachromatic leukradystrophy this week. She's 2 and a 1/2 and has maybe 2 years to live. I know more now about genetic testing than I ever want to.

You might want to consider dialing it back a bit. A lot of these tests aren't completed in seconds, minutes or possibly even hours. And it's not just how long the scheduled tests take, it also depends on how backlogged the lab is.

I'm not excusing the behavior, but there can be a lot going on behind the scenes that you may not be aware of.

My Marine and his wife just got told it will be 8 weeks before they can get a better guess at the life expectancy. Those genetic tests go all over the country and the process takes time.

Interesting job opportunity popped up at work today. they are in need of a Manufacturing support guy here. No special skills needed as long as you are willing to learn and are mechanically inclined. Its not a promotion just basically a union employee who helps the engineers since they regularly get backed up(I will also get a desk! :D). I think i'm gonna try and go for it. There are a few machines in here that I am very handy with and the employees are more than willing to lift the heavy stuff for me.

Yeah, they have an outstanding reputation. I feel very comfortable with them. I'm just finding it hard to find the patience.

That's a term I'm sure they wish they never heard. That's just horrible. I can't imagine how I would take something like that, let alone try to explain it to my 2 year old kid. How can someone find the courage to face that? I'd rather God take me instead. Chokes me up just thinking about it.

Live it to the fullest. I try to.

The new job has a self service dog wash, so I took my pooch up today and gave her a bath. You how much fun it is to get a dry 150lb dog into the wash basins... even with the stairs. Got her in and washed while I stayed pretty dry. Then she wouldn't get out. I had to lift her out and onto the stairs. The dryness ended there....

Took over 45mins to blowdry her too. She just sat there and enjoyed it but it took forever. She's darn near sparkling now.

You ever wish that people didn't know you know how to do what you do for a living?

Certain people always expect me to look at their car and fix it for free. Without even a thank you. They get upset when I don't want to look at it. Upset enough to ask someone else to be the go-between to ask me to look at their car. Because apparently I act like a dick when they ask me to look at their car. No effing wonder. Especially when you tell me your car won't start and the damn thing isn't in park. Or your key won't turn because you have the steering wheel crooked.

Please look at my car for some stupid reason. Oh, it's broken. Can you fix it? Oh, I'm broken. Can you fix me?

You can't fix stupid.

Rant off.

I got a buddy that constantly buys his sensors and relays at the local pick and pull. Everytime I go over there it's always. I just put a new XXXX sensor in and it's still doing it. By new he means junkyard sensor. Can't get it through his head that he should just buy a new one and be done with it.

Saying bye bye to my Remington 700 tomorrow. Stepping down to a .17HMR(2500 ft/s is gonna be awesome :D) but gaining $200 toward a DD. Along with the OT checks and sale of the MJ, I should be in good shape to buy some reliable transportation. The cost of Ammo along with not shooting it very often made my decision easier. It'll be at FestFest for its shakedown run! :)

so when should I expect the MJ to get dropped off?

I have "friends" who do this crap all the time. I usually find some lame excuse as to why I can't come help them (my Jeeps not running is the most believable one I use). When I had the shop you wouldn't believe the amount of calls I'd get in the middle of the night asking for a tow, a jump, come diagnose my Kia on the side of road...

I am like hey, I like bacon too, and they are like make me some, and I am like..look, titties and they are like "titties, where?!?' and I run off with the bacon...and that my friends, is how you dont work on shit.

Cheese "PCP was not just for the 60's" Man
