Important

Second shift last night didn't turn the machine with leaking seals off last night, there is oil EVERYWHERE. So needless to say I haven't been of much use this morning. We still have a good hour of cleaning up to do before we run production and they will just get a slap on the wrist as always.....fml!

Thank your local union.....

The smart thing to do would be to replace the seals, if the machine doesn't run right then it should be fixed to prevent down time.

A lot less than that for the dom and just a little less than that for the HREW, that price you have listed is about what I charge per foot for material for a cage.

Gotta remember that Reed City, MI is sort of out in the sticks. I'm not surprised that DOM is rather expensive.

DOM tubing is EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im thinking HREW for a cage is plenty sufficient, or am I being a dummy?

120 ft. of DOM $492

120 Ft. of HREW $221

hrew is fine, just make sure its designed well.....

materials and design, you don't necessarily have to have both, but you have to have at least one

I frequently say the same thing about Capability and Ability... if you don't have one, you better have the other.

For instance if you are great at welding you can probably get by with a cheap welder, but if not then get the best equipment you can to make up for it.

The seals are on order, unfortunately it involves disassembly of a LOT of shit, supposed to do it on 3rd shift but I have a feeling it will start on 3rd and end on 2nd the next day. We have some well qualified Maintenance folks but our managers don't get the big picture sometimes.

hrew is FINE for an internal cage, anything that comes in contact with rocks needs to be DOM.

Very accurate statement. A good portion of my cage is HREW. Of course 9 years ago when we built my cage, no one thought we needed DOM...

HREW will save your life...you just might need to rebuild after a hard roll...DOM will last a couple times...

I didn't think your prices were too bad, I thought less that $5 a foot for DOM was cheap...but then again, I haven't bought a stick in a long time.

Its going to be a hybrid, so i am thinking that the halo and A pillars will be DOM and the rest HREW.

k "full body" man

FYI 1.75 o.d. 120 wall for halo is a must.....Ask PAT what 1.5 120 wall does.

I didn't even think about diameter or wall thickness...

my entire cage is 1 3/4 .120 wall...

So, I guess according to the ILEPA, dirt with grass, like sod, in it is a hazardous material and can not be dumped in a clean fill area. It MUST be dumped at a landfill, like garbage, asbestos, oil contaminated soil, etc. Not only do they tell you you can not dump it here, they make you fill out a two page form with name address, phone number, etc and, they give you a big receipt that says "REJECTED".
I had hired a guy with a skid loader to dig out the old driveway at one of my rentals and I hauled it away. This wasn't like grass clippings and tree branches, it was old road stone, gravel, and some dirt that had grass GROWING on it!
My plan was to dump the spoils at a local quarry and haul back clean gravel, I used to do it all the time. Not no more!
I had to take it out to my building site and dump it, no one would take it because of the sod. What should have taken 2 hours took 6!

You wonder why our country is so f$@&ed up?

No, I don't wonder any more.

I gave up when I saw that Burger King accepted food stamps.

It annoys me to see things like Cash for Clunkers and bail-outs when the govt is trying to stop these "roll your own" cigarette companies due to the fact that they (govt) aren't getting as much tax revenue as if you were to buy a pack of cigarettes. Keep giving to the lazy and dishonest but don't give the working man a break.
