Important

I have been to cheep to drink in bars since i was 13 years old.

It's a Dodge.

That makes me want it!!!

Was never huge on dodge trucks until a couple years ago. I had my 01 with a 5.9 gasser and loved it. I've always wanted a cummins.

The only two down falls on this truck for me is the fact that there is no rear doors and I'll have to get into payments.

How many kids do you have? It got to be a huge PITA to fit my 3 in the extended cab on my 96 Chevy, not so much because it didn't have rear doors, there just wasn't enough room.

Payments suck, especially on a 1997 truck. At least you would get 30 mpg pulling 20k lbs at 70 mph though :D

<chuckle> "Supercharger".....

2nd Gen 12v. All mechanical injection. Not necessarily a bad thing. In stock form, not a huge amount of power, but should be sufficient to haul just about anything around the Midwest. It's also got an automatic transmission, so don't plan on bombing it without spending a bunch on a built transmission.

1 for now, will be 2 but no more than 3. That's what makes me say if I'm gonna spend 7k why not spend 10k and get an excursion.

You talking about the XJ man? i think he meant on that burban he offered up for trade.

I wouldn't plan on doing alot to it. I know it will need a KDP fix since it doesnt say its been done yet. And there's no details on the trans, besides its been rebuilt. Says he has paperwork for it, but hasn't replied with any details on what internals it got.

quick question...

if you were going to sell a chunk of inner structure of the left front of your parts jeep what would you charge?

i have a guy looking to repair the lt. frt. corner and wants the inner fender from the "frame" up(not the "frame" just above it) no fender. asked me to give him a price and i have no idea. i would have to cut it all out with a sawzal but the fender is already gone.

also whats the bottom piece of the air box wroth?

$50 for the inner fender crap...air boxes are usually cheap or give away items in the XJ community, but if you go to a big fancy salvage yard they will charge up to $100 b/c insurance companines pay that much for them for front end collision replacement parts thet are factory.

Kman-the problem w/ that truck is that is it s a polished turd w/ payments...you can score V10 Excursions all day for $6000 or less...if you go w/ a 7.3 Excursion, you better get your payment book ready......

I actually have thought about V10 Excursions to piddle around with for hunting season w/ we have our pay hunters come in..I can fit a lot of guys and gear in there and still use it for towing if I ever needed to...and you can get one for cheap.

I've seen a few decent 7.3 excursion for 10 to 12k in the past few months.

V10 huh? Seems like a gas guzzling monster!!!!!!!!! But they are cheap, Ive seen them for 4 to 5k around me.

Are they a decent engine? Would hate to rebuild one I am sure lol.

My next choice after a cummins is a 98-01 dodge gasser, preferably with the 5.9. I loved my 01 i had for awhile. And i can get a nice one for 4k ish.

I am just torn, no matter what i end up with a payment book. May just deal with DDing the XJ seeing as i dont really wheel a ton.

k "sorry for the story Dan!!!!' man

I would probably charge 20 if they wanted to cut it themselves or 50 if I had to cut and ship it. Airbox is free maybe 20 bucks if he is being annoying.

This is better.

Less chatter.

More tow rig talk.

mac 'would not want payments on something with 1/4 million miles on it' gyvr

It's a Dodge.

Its a 97, why does everyone think 12 valves are made of gold? Good engine but that truck is not worth 7500 with that kind of mileage.

just scored an ingersoll rand 30 gallon compressor for free...it works, but won't shut off at full pressure and will blow out the overflow valve. pressure switch is about 30-40 bucks...i would say that was a good pickup :)

Definitely a score!
