Do eeetttt....

With the way that airlines are handling fares these days, I'm not sure I'd cancel the one leg, you may end up losing the whole thing. Besides, if you do have to use the return leg, you'll need to get back to IN to pick up your junk anyway.

Nah, he'll just part it out and fly back like he did last year at NACfest......:D

I spent the extra ten bucks for the travel insurance, I basically get about 75% of the airfare back as long as I cancel within 24 hours of departure time. It's Spirit Airlines, they kinda suck but fit my budget nicely.

Yep. That sucked, but I got lucky (thanks to Johnny/lobsterdmb, best guy ever) and the only things I left behind that I actually cared about were a starter motor, a radiator, an engine, a set of shackles, and a transfer case.

Either that or go home on the plane with my tail between my legs and buy parts to fix it via the interwebnets, then fly back to fix it.

The only thing I am really truly afraid of is breaking the frame. If that happens I am FUBAR. The rest, I can solve or bring spares.

If I think I can make it, I will. And that's saying a lot.

I'd worry more about losing mirrors then dents.....of course I do not worry about dents.

It's one thing when it's yours... :puke:

I leave water in the black tank year round. Blue stuff in the summer, antifreeze in the winter.

Spare dents? :D
I got a couple of those. Also bringing spare rust and neglect.

I hear you guys are picky about recovery points. I have my fronts all set, they're solid, but I don't have any rear points and I'm not all that sure what to attach them to, really. I remember this was a point of contention several years ago concerning welded down recovery points on a rig, so I figure I should ask for exactly what I need to do.

Otherwise I am set as far as NAXJA rig requirements.

If I am told they are definitely required I will either find a way to install some or not wheel it, or not bring it.

IIRC, Rev & his tech crew are rather persnickety about tow points. Almost always, it's a hitch receiver with a tow bar & D-ring. Basically, something that's strong enough to withstand a good yank.

The problem with the welded hooks is that it's very difficult to really tell if it's been welded properly, and not just a surface weld. The last thing that anybody wants is to turn a tug'em strap into a sling shot.

I completely agree on that, I prefer to bolt them on and then maybe weld as well for extra insurance.

The problem in my case is that my rear frame is pretty crusty and I don't have a hitch for it, they're tough to find these days. I've always used the rear axle as my rear recovery point on this jeep (only for really light pulls, obviously, until I get a real rear recovery point I just don't wheel anything hard enough to get me stuck so I'd need a pull from the back.)

My long term plan is to build a full custom frame for it and a new rear bumper with a receiver, but there is no way in hell that's happening by WF, so I need to fix the frame and get a receiver I guess.

I was gonna pick up a hitch for mine there at WF. If you want to buy it and put it on at WF, I don't mind.
