Important

Had a 2001 Malibu with a 3100 v6 (same block as the 3400). Blower Motor Resister went bad. Lower Intake Manifold Gasket went bad not long after I got it. The rear spark plugs were a pain in the rear to get out without unbolting the motor. Front wheel hub units went bad a year into buying it. Had to change out the front hubs a short time later because they went bad again. A year and half after the first time the LIM gasket went bad, it went bad again. First time, it cost me 800 to get done. Second time, it cost me 500. I paid it off in February of 2009. Come March of 2010, it went bad again. I had rusting bad below the fuel fill area.

Wish I would have lost it during the floods of 2008 (had I parked in front of my apartment, I would have been sucking up water into the engine if I started it. Instead I parked in my car port that was higher) and got a Jeep like I wanted to do in 2004. I decided to buy the car instead of a Jeep since I was driving back and forth to school 120 miles a day three times a week.

Still love my XJ, miss my cars gas mileage though.

Oh yeah, before the 01 Malibu, I had a 95 Grand Am with a quad four. Regularly got 27mpg in town and 32 on the highway. Had 135k on it and it was leaking oil, burning oil and leaking rain water. Sold it for 300 dollars, still regret selling it.

Finally have the plow on my Jeep. After rebuilding the front end and damn near killing myself with my wood furnace a while back. I finally have it on and working. Still need to finish up the lights, and strap up the wiring. Now it can snow all it wants. I can easily clear the driveway. Scraped at the 3" of snow that was left and it worked damn good. It's nice not needing a football field to turn around.

anyone one within driving distance to me know how to change a transfer case chain and are willing to do it for much much cheaper than the shop?

just throwing it out there.

You can do it while it's under the XJ, but it does require splitting the case. Personally, I'd pull the t-case out, it's easier to reassemble the case halves and get the oil pickup & gear pump in right while it's on the work bench.

A good set of lock ring pliers makes the job a lot easier. Go easy on the RTV, you only need a small bead to seal the case. If it leaks out & globs around the seam, you've used too much.

this is what i posted monday

I found out yesterday that i am not mechanically inclined enough to swap out a transfer case.

currently i have a parts jeep in the garage. i was going to just swap out for the new case. i tried and tired but im just no mechanic i guess, not only could i only get to 1 bolt to try and pull off but i could only see 3. to difficult for my untrained hand. now im looking to pay someone else.

also, like i said i do have this jeep. so if someone would rather come to my house and swap it instead of changing the chain that works to.

Got something in the mail from JakeWI

there supposed to give the ultimate horse power gain over any other sticker company
