Ewwwwwwwwwwwww, whats that nasty stuff? :D

Looks like a XJ with a scraggly little hippy beard

That's one nasty dirty Jeep! I hope you washed it off bit before hitting the road!

Hoping to get off the west coast and get back to a place where you don't have to get up at 6am to go find another parking spot!

At WF 2010 I just about got my 4x4 F250 stuck and it was unloaded... I'll definitely try and stay near the front and out of the mud this year. And you probably *could* drive your other XJ to Badlands and back, but from the way it sounds I don't think you could give up your camper...

I am still a little surprised at how often I use my truck/trailer for non-wheeling activities, seems like more than a few times a year I'm hauling other vehicles around.

I like camping near the back of the campground...Just stay on the lots with gravel that aren't all grass and your ok. The campground seems to get a little better every year tho, its one more year away from the field it used to be.

No way I'd drive that baby jeep down and back. Back in the day I drove the popcan in near the same build back and forth, but was always worried about not making it home...especially when I blew the motor up. I could...but where would I sleep, you're right I absolutly love the truck camper.

I rarely use my truck for anything other than towing or camping or both. I've put 3200 miles on my truck since I bought it in April. That's 8 Badlands trips, one brown county camping trip, and one trip to Rocks and Vallys.

Well I made the first significant Jeep purchase in a while. I just bought the Dirtbound Offroad triple electric fan set up with fan controller, un-assembled. It should be installed and ready to go by the Redbird run.

I hope to have what I want done for this year, mostly involves replacing stuff that I feel is in need and re red lettering. No major changes this year unless someone wants to donate :D

I'm camping on the lower end of the campground this year, staying up late, getting drunk and wheeling with a hangover.

With us cool kids?

Your bro is getting drunked this year.

Camp close to the fire so the walk isn't so bad when u can't walk.

Past the shower house is the party...

There's also something to be said for living relatively close to your wheeling area too. I live 4 hours from the nearest area with actual elevation changes, 6 hours from Crozet, 8 hours from tellico (not that it matters) and 10 hours from Harlan. Attica is a quick trip, just a little over 13 hours there.
...
If I lived an hour from where I wheeled, I'd still tow it there, because I can afford to. People who don't have tow rigs rarely suggest that it's because they build their XJ so well they don't need them, it's because they can't afford to have one.

I don't have a Super XJ, just an OK one. I have never owned a severe duty rig, but like to think my driving skills have improved over time and that my maintenance is up to par.

I've broken on the trail, in CO, over 16 hours from home. That's why you wheel with a buddy. Attica to me is almost 6 hours, and I consider it a "Day trip". I drive to the trail, wheel, and drive home. Yes, I have fun doing it :D

When I drag raced, I towed. A few reasons: I didn't have to change the slicks; If the engine went south, I didn't have to hitch home (happened once); a place to rest for the next day of racing.

Perhaps you are right, in the end run, there are two principals at work:
*Cost - Vehicle Cost, Trailer Cost + Insurance: I don't have it to spend.
*The idea that if I plan my line, and drive the vehicle like it needs to take me home at the end of the day, I won't need one 99.9% of the time.

-Ron "I don't need to roll my rig to have fun" :D
