Dad needs a 4.7 for his 2001 WJ

He has a rod knocking in his...I love him to death but he has definite issues with checking/changing oil in a motor.

So I'm going to help him find and swap a junk yard 4.7...then I'm going to take the old one and possibly rebuilt it for the next popcan or full on tube buggy motor.

Well, he will pay whatever it takes to get one.

We have a contact at a local yard and I'll have a call in with him this afternoon.

There's also a pick/pull locally that seems to have decent prices.

Would be worth it to pull the pan and take a look. If it's in the lower end, you might get away with changing the bearings, even going oversize .010 if you mike them out a little worn.

I swapped the rod end bearings on the 4.0 when I wiped them sucking muddy water in, but it didn't help. You might get lucky if it's only one rod.

Also I'd rather pull a motor on a stock vehicle to get to the mains anyways...its easy on the buggy...but working on stock sucks.

My XJ is red and I did a flat black hood on it and now I think it looks a little funny. Could be the colors of mine but I pictured it looking better than what it actually did.
