Important

The bench seat rear on a KR is rare. That leather definitely needs some love. My '05 runs very well, no 6.0 issues like a 03/04.

That's the biggest thing that I've noticed when looking at the KR's, is that the seats usually looked like a cat lived in it and scratched them all up or the leather is really faded. But these seats don't look nearly as bad as some I've seen.

I might as well have fun with the Jeep. Most likely I'm going to temporarily swap in a junkyard motor and keep mine for a stroker build. Build it, beat on it, break it, repeat.
I've got a couple of 4.0l engines, but they're sitting over in Michigan. I won't be able to get over there until the end of March. Drop me a note if you might be interested.

There is some stuff Ford recommends, I can't remember, I'd have to google it.

It's expensive, but my buddy's seats looked like brand new when he was done. And the inside of his truck is disgusting.

new wheels, paint, and fender trim. rolled it out of the booth this morning. not bad for a free paintjob

Brian, it is upcountry and has adjustable pedals and a tow package. I figure it'll be a good departure from driving a battle tank every day(which I love). It is nearly perfect inside and out. For 8k, i think its a very good deal. Now, the real question is: Can I get financed without a cosigner or a lien? I refuse to do a lien and would only ask for a cosigner if it was my only choice. My jeep is still running and driving fine so If either of those situations come up, I'm gonna walk.

I can tell it's Up Country, it's considerably taller looking, and the rear is normally raked up like that. Just really stupid that they offered a normal suspension as a no charge option. '04's didn't get the UC at all.

Poke around there, though I'm sure you already know about the site. Everything I told you is pretty much there.

They make a great DD and small toy hauler. I was considering pulling the XJ on an aluminum trailer with it, since towing cap. is similar to that of a Tahoe. Only after getting a weight distributing hitch and airbags in the rear coils though. Don't get black, that's what I was thinking to replace mine. :D (But probably red, blue, or gray)

Get the house instead... houses (especially now) will appreciate, cars always depreciate for a long time before maybe appreciating if they are in amazing shape. Rent is forever, mortgages end in 30 years, and you own your XJ outright, right? Don't add to your debt load for anything that won't save you in the future.

What Sean said. Loans without a lien are much higher risk, the financial institution has nothing to fall back on if you default, hence the interest rates will be much higher to cover the defaults.

never do a 30 year loan on a house if you have choice...go 15 if at all possible...but i agree with the rest of what is said.

Oh fully agreed... 30 years is about the worst case, was just using it as an example. I was going to be going with a 5/30 year fixed balloon mortgage and simply pay it off in 5, since I was aiming for a <$50k fixer upper property it was a fairly logical choice. Problem was that banks don't like conventional financing on an "unlivable" property... so I ended up saving for longer and buying cash. Only reason I'll be getting any kind of loan is for improvements or to expand my lot, there is a 0.8ac city owned wooded vacant lot adjacent to mine that I have my eye on.

I go by the same philosophy Dan. I did our house on a 20 yr note and we are paying ahead for a 10yr payoff..same w/ the farm. It is almost like a type of insurance is the way I view it.

I hear ya. I deal with a locally owned bank and they do not go beyond 20 years on anything.

They wanted a cosigner, I expected that. The people who would probably cosign are not able to at the moment and I don't want to try and find someone who will. I will just stick with Betsy for now and save toward a house. Tyler, I don't think I'll be able to find a place cheap enough to do a 15 year loan on. I do plan on getting some sort of beater to drive while the jeep is down for upgrades. This jeep would have been great for a DD and to tow the camper when I'm not going wheeling. Ask Brad, My roommate is a douche and its not my house so I can't boot his ass out the door!

Good Luck Nate, Glad to hear someone is close to being ready..What axles are you installing?

Nick

Josh's axles from the 91.

D30 with the one ton OTK steering and trackbar.
8.8 with a superior super 88 kit in it.

All geared 4.56, so no more stalling in the lions' den!

The D30 is done, aside from some new front brake lines. It's sitting at ride height with RE 4.5" coils and LCA/UCAs.

The rear end is getting frame outriggers and XJ leaf springs. So I'll shorten my wheelbase considerably and move the shackle boxes out of harms way.

today I posted the cummins on craigslist, within the first two hours of it being up I had three calls/text messages. The first guy wanted to trade his 06 ram 1500 which wouldn't be a bad trade if it was what I was looking for, the second guy via text asked if I'd straight trade my truck for an 04 honda racing quad and a 1968 firebird, the third guy via text asked if I would trade for a 1977 chevy nova.

Bm ' if only I were interested in a muscle car for a DD' yohn
