Important

I got my money back for the Jeep today. I parked my truck and trailer right directly in front of the doors to the store, walked in and asked to speak with the GM. After about ten minutes the GM came up to me. The jeep directly behind me out the window, he walked up to me and I asked him for a check. He says "Dude, we don't have a check for you, we're not giving you your money back I've already told you that". I responded with asking then why did I get a call from your boss telling me to pick up a check this afternoon? He responds, "Oh, well let me check." Few minutes later, "Yep, they have a check for you but they need you to sign some papers". "Gee thanks" I respond lol

After signing some papers saying I wouldn't sue them for anything else involving the Jeep and faxing my lawyer the same paper I was on my way with a check. The GM didn't make eye contact with me the rest of my visit. And the guy who sold me the car pretended that I didn't even exist lol

I guess that brings to end the Yohn'ing I endured upon myself :D

it would have been classic when you were leaving if you flipped them all the bird and told them all to go "yohn" themselves. :D

you should have pulled it off the tralior on a patch off ice so they needed 4wd to move it :D

Rosco just cut the muffler off his ol 2000 7.3 F350. He has a 4inch banks kit on it...well minus the muffler now. Its not that much louder.

He has the steering wander also. He replaced the worn out steering stabilizer and he says it helped a lot. There is some play in the steering box tho.

He's got 177k on his and its going to California in a little over three weeks. It got some maintenance and fluids changed this weekend.

mac 'he was pissed to find out his front axle was a Dana 50' gyvr

Red-Head steering box - apparently that is a significant help for the steering wander. I think the root cause is not enough caster, but with a decent steering box you can at least have decent control over the problem and it won't seem as bad. Planning to buy one in a few weeks so I'll see how it goes.

Yeah, I am good. I couldn't stay away for that long. Had to register for WF last night so I said to hell with it I will not be on hiatus anymore.

Glad you are back. Your account won't reach 12k posts by itself :D

drove red rocket home in the snow last night and put it in 4wd and it got caught between selections in the t-case due to the linkage needing adjusted..I had to coast to the side of the road and in my good clothes climb under the damn thing and dick with the t-case...nothing like a cold and snow covered ride home to make you NOT want to work on the damn thing. I might just drive Goldie next time!

Changed oil in the diesel last night. Switched from Rotella Triple-T 15w40 to Rotella T6 Synthetic 5w40. It could just be mental, but I swear the truck was half as loud as usual this morning. Seems to start easier too. I'm planning to send it in to Blackstone for used-oil-analysis, because for the $80 for oil+filter I'd sure like to get 10k miles out of it.

Also considered switching from Rotella to Nutella, but I couldn't get it out of the damn jar.

Brendan, I'd be checking their website for them to put that back up for sale, I'm SURE they won't deal with you again, but if they sell it cheap have a buddy go in and offer $500, it is worth that.

Thanks for the sig Brad!

Mine had 142k when I bought it in March '10. I am about to roll over 162k now. The only engine-related problem I have is an oil leak that appears to be from the oil pan. The motor has to be removed to fix it though, so I just check it frequently and keep it topped off. I have a lot of other fixable problems with the steering wander and glow plugs being shot, but a lot of that is the result of poor maintenance, not the fault of the truck.

And nice signature BTW :D

Seems all the Ford trucks of that vintage have oil pan issues, even the gassers. My neighbor had to repair his.

should have gone scarface

I started using synthetic in my 99 CTD after the first winter I was in MN. I don't think it made it any quieter, but it sure turns over much easier at -20 than with dino juice. I have been running the Shell Rotella synthetic. I discovered that the Cummins service counter now stocks Valvoline synthetic, and for only a couple of bucks more than the Shell. *AND* I don't have to go running for it either now.

Have you heard good things about the Valvoline? The cheapest I found Rotella Syn was Wal-Mart for $19.50/gal. Of course they only had 3 gallons, so I can to run around to find the 4th one. What kind of oil change interval do you run?

If anyone uses the regular Rotella and knows someone with a Sam's membership, you can get 2x2.5gal jugs for (just under?) $50 if I remember correctly.

Well, finally got the project jeep home. I started it up and drove it off the trailer. When I went to put it in drive it would die. I could start it up but would barely run. Now there is no fuel registering on the guage and the fuel pump is not coming on when you turn the key on. I am at a loss. I would just push it in the garage but there is to much snow on the driveway to get it moving. Any thoughts?

I guess I am going to go that route with it. Just sucks because it is facing the wrong way. LOL I have to turn it around first.
