Yeah, I really wish I had seen this yesterday. If the popup sells tomorrow I may talk the wife into making a trip down there. It's only 2 hours each way :D

If only I had seen this yesterday, I was just in Madisonville meeting the buyer for my XJ. I may not have come home with an empty trailer :D

Edit: I may still be interested, if anyone is local to Madisonville and could check it out let me know.

Got an email back. His cousin ran it out of oil and locked up the engine. I would have put a 3.4 in it anyway. Undecided at this point if I want to mess with it or not. More than likely it would be a long term project.

Oh well, he saved you the trouble of doing it to the 2.8 yourself... at least now you plan on getting the 3.4 swap out of the way first thing.

I cant believe I am about to post this...but....I am considering looking at a Ford.....I know, I know...but it is an 02 (last year of the 7.3) and it is loaded up on options. High miles but clean and cheaper then a Chevy...

The only reason I bought a Ford is because I couldn't afford a Chevy. Having said that, this is my first Ford vehicle and I have been impressed. I would buy another Ford again.

The 7.3 is going to be a dog compared to the newer diesels. I want to see what a chip+exhaust will do to mine, but I am still not expecting it to be anywhere near even the 6.0 Powerstroke or any of the Duramaxes. The leaf sprung front rides like crap IMO. All stuff to consider. Overall I will guess it will not be as nice to drive as your Chevy, but on the other hand if you get what you want for your current truck, you can take that plus a couple grand and get a crew cab 4x4 pretty easy.

I will say that even without a exhaust+tune, I can pull 18-19 highway and anywhere from 12-15 towing. So in your case, the mileage difference combined with how cheap it is to get one should help justify it.

how many miles you got on your Brad? I can honestly say that the 7.3 in our farm truck, which is beat to all hell and well over 250K on it, has a lot more pull and torque then the POS duramax I drove in Texas...of course that truck has multiple things that could have caused that as well. this 02 PSD that I am looking at has 187K, but it is original owner and has all service records and oil was changed every 3500-5000K miles and tranny was serviced per records as well. Never been chipped or programmed and has stock intake etc, but does have 4" full exhaust. New nitto tires and it is clean as can be. carfax checks out clean as well.

Mine had 142k when I bought it in March '10. I am about to roll over 162k now. The only engine-related problem I have is an oil leak that appears to be from the oil pan. The motor has to be removed to fix it though, so I just check it frequently and keep it topped off. I have a lot of other fixable problems with the steering wander and glow plugs being shot, but a lot of that is the result of poor maintenance, not the fault of the truck.

And nice signature BTW :D

3.4? what is that?

3.4 GM, bolts in. I dunno if I'll go for it or not.

On another note, I ordered a performance ECM, 4" stainless exhaust and high capacity airbox for the ol' Chevy this morning. Should make it run much better. Trying to squeeze as much reliable power out of the old truck as I can, gotta make it last a while!

Rosco just cut the muffler off his ol 2000 7.3 F350. He has a 4inch banks kit on it...well minus the muffler now. Its not that much louder.

He has the steering wander also. He replaced the worn out steering stabilizer and he says it helped a lot. There is some play in the steering box tho.

He's got 177k on his and its going to California in a little over three weeks. It got some maintenance and fluids changed this weekend.

mac 'he was pissed to find out his front axle was a Dana 50' gyvr
