$11,500 for a 2wd 2003 CTD dually isn't unreasonable. In 2004, I shelled out $16k for a 1999 4wd 3/4ton 4wd CTD. Still, if it doesn't have a fuel pressure gauge, plan on a couple of grand to replace the VP44 almost instantly.
Agreed, thanks. We're going to use some of the proceeds from this and our popup sale to fund a travel trailer style camper for some quality family time.
There will be another Jeep in the future, probably a YJ. I'll still be around here, you can't get rid of me that easy
finally home from the truck trip..what a waste of $1000 and 2 days......but it is better then coming home wasting $20,000 and having a piece of shit sitting in the drive...not enough room with the XJ's around
It had 2 puddles under it the size of my hand and it had only been sitting in that spot for 30 minutes or less. The tranny dipstick was missing at first but we found it laying inside the fender well, it had a very low rear tire, the motor had been into at one time or another due to seeing sealent around the valve cover on the drivers side, it had a leaky power steering box and lastly the new clean oil had a smell of diesel to it....it also had all sorts of rock chips on it everywhere and it had a wet/moldy smell to it....it just seemed unbelievably weak as well, I have drove enough diesels to know that this thing was a mess.....
so I gave the saleman macgyvrs number to tell him the story on another truck they had on their lot that mac was interested in, I was done takling with the dousche bag salesman.
When I flew out to SLC in 2004, I was more than ready to call a cab to get back to the airport, and buy another 1 way ticket back to Chicago if the truck wasn't in what I thought as good shape for the money.
IMHO, the Dodge listed in that link above is probably in better shape and for a bunch less money.

I will have one of those snazzy GoProHD camera's on the Jeep for WF, that should be interesting to review that footage.
Also was thinking maybe after Tech when we are ready to go out, how about a "Gentlemen, start your engines!" Then you get 60 XJ's to buzz to life. I don't know, the idea sounds kinda grand in my head.
I cant believe I am about to post this...but....I am considering looking at a Ford.....I know, I know...but it is an 02 (last year of the 7.3) and it is loaded up on options. High miles but clean and cheaper then a Chevy...
wehave a 99 PSD as a farm truck and it is beat to all hell, but still runs great and has just under 300K on it...but it has had like 6-7 trannys replaced. Not sure what I am wanting to do for sure, but thinking I want to get something figured out before WF.
