Important

Just spent the better part of an hour talking with the neighbor about a potential family project he's got. One of his uncles had a early Jeep that he's interested in getting running again. First problem is that it's stored in his cousin's garage, 50 miles away, and difficult to get to. Second problem is that he's not sure what it is, it could be anywhere from a 1943 MB to a 1951 CJ. It's got a Chevy smallblock, apparently a huge transmission leak (even though Tim thinks it's a stickshift.) Probably the worst thing is that it hasn't been turned over in 20-25 years, and although it was running when it was put in the garage, I'm willing to bet that it wasn't stored properly.

My advice was that it'd take a lot of time at an absolute minimum to get it running, and more likely, a bunch of parts. Don't even think about it from a monetary perspective. Already significantly modified, about the only thing left original is the tub, and that's been sandblasted and repainted blue (aftermarket soft top.) It might make sense from the family value direction, otherwise, run.

I would/ might be interested if it's got a solid tub. I'm a sucker for CJ'S. If you could go take a few pics I could tell what year, within a year or two what it is.

You must have one at your house or something, i always see you posting that on FB

Close...........2 miles down the road at my cousins house! :D

Might know more about Tim's project by next week. He's going to look at it on Saturday, and may get a look at the title. Based on what he's telling me, it may be an MB, or a CJ-2. Personally, I suspect that the engine and transmission are trash. The transfer case (no idea what it may be) is probably salvagable. No idea on the axles, with an SBC up front, I hope they're not the original axles. This is not an original equipment restoration candidate.
