Important

it does look amazing. im jealous.

Did a little torture testing on the ol' Chevy 6.5 last night. My buddy called and said something let go in his 6.5 on the way back from the lake towing his boat. I loaded up our shop Cherokee on the trailer and met him out there. Unloaded the Jeep, hooked it to the boat and loaded his truck on the trailer. His truck is identical to mine in body and drivetrain (ext cab longbed diesel), but he has a big toolbox and fuel tank in the bed, weighing close to 7650lbs. The car trailer weighs ~1900lbs, making a total towed weight of 9550lbs!

My truck impressed me I have to say. It didn't launch like a rocket ship but it maintained 50 (which is about all you can stand on US50 East from Olney) all the way home in 4th, not even at WOT. Not bad for a 14 year old turd of a diesel 3/4 ton.

My internet radio keeps cutting out, how will i make it through the day......

Got up to almost 50 degrees here yesterday, lost a bunch of the snow pack. Overnight, down to around 10 degrees and everything here is icy. Freezing rain & snow is predicted for this afternoon & tonight, will probably be a good night to stay home and drink like a fish.

Gotta get up into the attic today to set some traps, I've got mice in the walls. They're apparently smart enough to not come out into view where the cats would probably make short work of them.

Mac, CMK came up for a beer on Wednesday night.

good times with the mice. If you want a really effective mouse trap get a 5 gallon bucket and a piece of dowel rod. Notch top of bucket so dowel rod will fit in the notch. Cover middle of dowel with peanut butter, fill bucket halfway with water.

come back to mass mouse murder a few days later. I keep one in the garage since that is the entry point to our house every year for them. during the height of te mouse invasion in the fall it was drowning 3 or 4 a day, but none ever made it into the house.
You may have to build a ramp to the side of the bucket so they can get to the dowel.

I've thought about that style of trap. Problem is that I need to site the traps up in the attic, and I've got only a very small access up there. Still may end up doing that, I'll see what happens with a couple of traditional snap traps first, as well as getting any eye on the attic first (still haven't crawled up there yet.)

One of my cats is started to get driven batshit crazy with the noises in the walls. Pretty comical.

Thats my problem they crawl up in the attic, i got some of these little pouches of poison that way i was able to just throw them in each corner and the mice eat them and go out side to die i guess, i didn't find any dead in the attic

the next person that does any work in the walls will find bones, trust me.

I should say that I said dowel, but really a piece of 1/2 PVC pipe works the best, as they cannot grip the plastic and it spins really easily in the notch.

and just a tidbit, since my wife kills mice and rats all day, she told me they can swim for about 30 minutes before they drown.

i can believe that, the package said they go out side to die but i didn't believe it so i went up there to see if i can find some dead ones i didn't see any

i did tear down a couple walls recently and didnt find any but i did find a biiiiiiiigg arse bee hive i got a pick on my home CP ill post later it was in between 2 studs so 16" wide and about 2 feet tall

Soak that hive in brake clean, kills em instantly. Being winter they're probably dormant anyway, you may be able to cut it out and burn it outside.

yea there wasn't any in there i tossed it out about 2 weeks ago

at work in the summer i keep a can of brake clean out with the straw in it, I call it my bee assault rifle :D

when I was younger there was a rat that took up residence in the workshop outside. It ate D-Con like it was no big deal, like 2 or 3 boxes. He was largish. Then he just disappeared, something like 2 years later dad redid the shop exterior and found his carcass.

Dad used to have the occasional rat problem in one of the cattle barns. He did manage to take out most of them with poison. The last one I saw came crawling out of the barn when we were putting up hay. Damned thing was over a foot long.... without the tail. It must have gotten one heckuva dose of warfarin, because it wasn't moving very quickly at all. Speared it into the ground with a 3-tine pitchfork and left it there for the afternoon before throwing it over the bank.

My attic is nicely filled with blown-in cellulose insulation, and I really don't want to walk on it. I left a couple of traps by the access, have to see if I get anything.
