I need to upgrade the steering on the D30 of the baby jeep. The inverted Y sucks and the tie rod is bent. Looking to replace it all. What's the good stuff out there these days? Anyone cutting DOM to length and tapping it with heims? Can I just buy something from the aftermarket that's strong AND affordable?

I did a search...now I'm looking for answers.

mac, I built my own from DOM and QA1's. It was under $300 if I recall. I ran the tapped DOM set up (JCR) and it was UTK. I ended up w/ the dreaded dead spot and a couple of bent TRE's. It was a good set up, but I personally did not care much for it on road.

mac, I personally have not ran this set up but a few (more like 3-4) years back I researched it enough to talk myself into buying it...and it was back ordered every single place I tried. That ws when I still had the TJ and was going to put that on it..apparently every Barbie Jeep owner in North America saw it was a decent upgrade and it was cheap so they had like a 2-3 month backorder everywhere I called. There used to be another company that sold the same thing re-badged. I believe it was omix-ada or something like that. Hell, for the money try it and report back. (easy for me to say since it is not my money )

this doesn't sound bad. price is right and the tube is 1/8" larger OD than others.

AJ's are sponsors too, right?

Yup, AJ is a good guy. He fell on some hard times a while back but I believe he has fully recouped and has come back swinging!

He should have things turned around now. It used to be tough to get ahold of him but the last few times I've called he's picked right up. Definitely a good guy to deal with

87manche sold me a bum Cherokee! Bad seller! Nah, not really, I knew what I was getting into when I bought it.

Tried to start it last night and it would crank but never fire. I don't hear the pump priming, so I'll get it rolled into the shop tonight (hopefully) and start messing with it. And Nate, I've got Marcus *thinking* about buying the Aspire... though he is a little put off about making the 5+ hour trip again so soon.

Thanks guys. He actually asked me to start on his new front winch bumper this morning..I asked why now? He said if things were to be bad he wants his rig done and wants to go on an awesome wheeling trip with me. I had a hard time holding back the tears on that one. I am ordering steel today.
