Important

WOW!! I can't believe that! How long before Aaron gets wind of it and he posts up on their board?

Already done. :D Most of them I don't bother with but I couldn't resist! People like that make me sick. Mooching off his girl and he's not even a US citizen! On top of that he has a kid.

I thought that thread was locked?
Good times.
Lar and Paula going at it was one highlight.

Any one have Rory's phone number?
I need to ask him how this is working for him.....

How do you decide who the "leader" is?
That's crap.

Asking permission is ridiculous. Just live with in your means and all is good.

My hubby is going to be rich, he will work and bring home the bacon, I will stay at home and have lots of babies and he will give me money when I want it and he will STFU when I come home with a new $1000 purse that I will only use 3 or 4 times.
The seperate account thing definately will not work for me.

That thread is loaded with possible sig lines

yes the tap picture is before it was all set up...and its not a final set up inside with the blocks of wood...but we got it in there...

mac 'wonder if the 60's era fridge ever thought it would be a kegorator' gyvr

You know, you can put good beer in those, too :D

I have a fridge in my parents basement from the 50's or 60's (the kind that actually latches) that I've been wanting to do that with. The thing still works good too. Gotta wait till I actually have a shop tho. What the setup run you total?

You'll need a CO(2) tank, a regulator, some gas tubing, beer tubing, a shank assembly along with a faucet, as well has the tap for the kegs. Better stocked homebrew shops should have everything you need. Northern Brewer, Midwest Supply and Austin Homebrewing are 3 of the biggest online retailers.

If you go through less beer than Mac, get a forward seal faucet (trust me on this.)

looks good, i want to do that when i set up my garage how i want it

everything but the fridge and keg was $100 used...

seller even included a full tank of co2 and the bud light handle

jeff what is a forward seal faucet?

i personally don't even drink that much beer, more whiskey than anything, but my buddies that hang out and help wrench, drink enough that i think i can make things cheaper with a keg...and hopefully get some donations...hopefully

i might consider getting into brewing...we'll see...

A new 5 lb. CO(2) bottle, empty, is $80 on it's own. You got a good deal.

A forward seal faucet keeps all of the moving parts submerged (in beer, soda, etc.) I'm pretty sure the faucet you have is a standard bar faucet. The moving parts dry out when not pouring, and the mechanism will gum up and stick. I bought 4 Perlick 425 forward seal faucets for my kegerator to avoid this. The good news is that a forward seal faucet should work just fine on that shank.

this is most definently related to the subject of this thread.... beer in the shop is definently "important"

Shortxj "checks in here all the time from the SE" doug

Josh scored me an old GE refrigerator for free last year. One of the latching 1950s style ones. I think it uses sulfur dioxide as a refrigerant, let's hope it never leaks. Picked up the equipment and cylinder from BeverageFactory for about $150. The cylinder's the most expensive part!

Looks good though! For $100 you came out pretty good.

I figured the kegerator would be saving me money, but the last keg I bought was $90 (Coors Light)... when the hell did crappy beer get expensive?

And since we're sort of on the topic, I'll go ahead and ask about beer line cleaning.

I know they recommend cleaning lines after each keg, but I made it through several before I broke down and bought a cleaning kit. The beer was starting to taste funny so I figured it was time. I run solution through the lines, soak the coupler and faucet in a bucket filled with water and beer line cleaner, I go to town with a wire brush and rinse everything well. I've done this after each keg for the last two or three. The beer will taste better (for a while at least), but every other glass or so I still get some nasty-looking pieces floating in it. Anyone got any tips for getting things clean "like new"?
