Important

Well had a pretty good weekend. Kinda hecktic. Had the family Christmas party saturday and all the family left today. Had 25 people in the house at once. My parents, 7 sisters and their husbands/boyfriends, their kids, and my girlfriend. Too many people. Ive been in a food and beer coma for the past two days.
Good times thought.

drug home one of the little Nissan chore trucks today w/ a blown tranny...going to look into it in a bit, not sure if I am going to fix it back to be a chore truck or possibly thinking about "Project Farm Truggy" pics to follow........

SAS that thing and toob it out. :D

Upload/download speeds tell you how much data will transfer in each direction in a certain period of time.

Ping tells you how long it takes for a packet of data to reach a destination. Obviously, the more network hops a packet has to take, the longer the ping times will be. This is also why you want to run a speed test against a server that is close by, i.e a low hop count (or ping time.)

If you're just browsing the net, downloading email, or that type of thing, ping times really aren't that important.

Low ping times, aka "latency," are far more important if you're gaming online (reporting your activity to the server, and getting other player's info back quickly) or using a Virtual Private Network. VPNs are quite sensitive to round trip times. I can't use a VPN connection to work from my sister's house, she's got a microwave hop to her ISP with a high latency issue.
Thanks Jeff!
That actually makes sence to me.:laugh3:

that is what has been running through my mind. Have a buddy that has an old school waggy that is going to rust itself into the ground, so I was thinking that the front axle woudl be a good candidate (proper drop and 6 lug to boot!) and just put some leafs up front and go w/ it...I think it would be fun to tube it out, bob the bed (not to be confused with BOB the bed :D) and dove tail (narrow) the rear of the bed...but these old chore trucks are not much account and have really rusty frames..I have been laying under that rig for the past hour just scrathcing my heard as to weather it is even worth putting the other tranny in it...I am surrounded by junk...

here are the two non running pieces of crap that I could make one running piece of crap out of :D

What sucks is my nice truck and XJ are sitting outside in 2 degree temps while these pieces of junk are taking up space in the heated shop...

Heh... so do I... and it's -10 F at 7:30 PM. -15 to -20 F predicted tonight.

I was just talking with wifey about selling everything and packing up and moving...somewhere that there is no snow, no corn or soybeans and the town has more then one blinking red light.....

she said no....

these past three years have really put the hammer on everything around here and it just wears on a person (and my pocket book! Try taking a 30-50K loss 3 years in a row) I am sick and tired of the rain and snow..it has rained the past 3 years when it was time to plant and it rains when it is time to harvest.,..rain changes to snow and waaa..waaa.waaaa..I just need to quit crying about it I suppose, but it does suck. But if it was easy, everyone would be doing it....

So I went to my cousin's body shop/car lot to show him my XJ and see if he'd be interested in fixing my sagging driver's door and straightening my rockers (really just the pinch seam) enough to enable installation of sliders. No problem, he's gonna take care of it.

Shootin the breeze and browsing his used car inventory for research purposes (I was not, repeat NOT in the market). He shows me this salvage title 2003 Infiniti G35 sedan that is almost ready to sell. The G has always been on my short list, but didn't think they were old enough or cheap enough for me yet. Then he offers me a family discount deal that I can't refuse. SO....I'm taking it! Don't worry, the XJ stays and I'm getting rid of my old faithful 265K mile 95 Maxima.

Talk about two totally different kinds of vehicular satisfaction, G35 and XJ. Both good...

you'll love the G, my parents have the G37S Coupe, its super slick and sexy, i drive that thing whenever i get a chance to. good pick up eric!

Oh yeah, it's a blast to drive. I can't imagine the 70 or so more hp in the G37, but I'm sure I would find something to do with it :D Even this old G sedan has 52/48 weight distribution and handles like a go cart compared to what I'm used to, lol. It's just relative, I'm sure.

Also, he has such success fixing and selling Gs that he has two parts cars that are mine for the picking.

from home...supposed to be 25/15

mac 'faster than the 5.5 year old laptop can keep up with' gyvr

Al? AL????

Global warming? *REALLY*?

-18 F this morning. Hope everybody is staying warm. And your vehicle starts.

you just got that new property...
Would that help you selling the property or would that make for a bigger loss?

A balmy 6 when I got up. Jeep's leaking PS fluid, the RMS/pan/VC leak is worse, but my leaking valve stem froze solid, so at least I didn't have a flat this morning- and the Jeep started. The older I get, the more I hate winter.
