Important

Talk about no respect. I was sitting in my stand just before opening when some guy fly's down my road to get in on the public land adjacent to me. Meaning he TRESPASSED! I yelled and he just kept going. May have to get out my garden hose with screws in it and help him on the way out of my land. I do not get guys just zipping down a road that is clearly a driveway with a fire number on it to get to hunting on the public land. I even have signs that say no hunting or trespassing without written permission with my phone number posted up there so it's not like he could not have called. Left my stand to go call the Sheriff and was asked to wait till they get here. Debating whether I should press charges I'm not a complete a-hole but dam I know he seen the signs and me yelling at him.

I had 70 acres of woods once, people used to trespass all of the time. There was a spot where the stream came close to the road. Morons used to camp and leave their trash there all of the time. I put up a fence, but they trashed it. One guy turned it in to his personal mud bog. A nice weekend project with my boys, a 4 X 8 sheet of plywood with over 500 2 inch screws in it. I buried the plywood, pointy screws up and weighted it down with bricks. Lets say "Mr. Mudbog" had to call for a tow home, and he never came back. The plywood worked many times after that also.

Press charges. Let him know you mean business. Theres no excuse for him not to get your permssion to cross your land.

Have you tried just approaching him in a polite, quiet, relaxed manner and remind him that your land is private? Sometimes a gentle word can do far more then anything else.

 I should have known. Just signed in to post this. Hey, Less(limited) needs some rollers for his Wrangler... just a thought. :D

Ahhh that's right! Well assuming he's got open diffs the oddly sized 4th tire should work fine! Heck I bet a Jeep would be fun on some skinny tires.

Ok the guy that trespassed was lost supposedly. Well the Sheriff did find him and the guy came and apologized. He also ended up getting a couple tickets for no registration, and driving on ATV on county forest land not designated as a trail. I did not press charges as he was the nephew of a land owner I know down the road. He said he did not see or hear me yell to him.
Time to get hunting. Good thing it takes 2 minutes to get in my stand and fire up the heater. Funny thing is my wireless internet from the house works out there lol.

Rev, you are just no fun this morning :D J/K

I am afraid for land owners who approach trespassing hunters, it could so easily turn into a Vang incident. If you remember the incident I speak of, a trespassing hunter named Vang, killed a group of hunters in WI after being agressively told he was tresspassing.

My ex BIL's stance is that the hunter should know where he is hunting, therfore, any trespassers are escorted off his Dad's property in a very uncourtly manner. I had an occasion to witness it once, it was very amusing - in very limited kind of way.

Haha, Nothing like sitting in a warm cozy treestand browsing NAXJA! :D

3 deer were killed yesterday.
Still meat for WF.
I'm not going today............I'm pooped.

Two deer to my name yesterday. Going back today. Gotta love being in a Metro Herd Management Unit. Our antlered hunt also runs through Dec 9 too. Not being greedy as there will be a large donation to Hunt for the Hungry.

Yeah, a little sad. It was a great rig but I got a taste of towing the Jeep, and I like it. Time to start saving for a tow rig.

I got pretty close to what I wanted out of it. You never get out of one what you think it's worth.

couldn't tow with the FSJ?

I think back on page 956 we had a similar tow rig discussion :D FSJ probably pulls it fine, but once you look at pulling through mountains, emergency stops, and overall stability there are plenty of trucks that do a better job.

Glad you got some decent money out of it Byron. It's nice to not totally lose your ass on a car (like I have done too many times).

Speaking of tow rigs, I've been putting up with crappy brake performance in the Tahoe for months now. Finally did rear brakes (drums) yesterday, and then it was worse than ever. Today I learned a thing or two about adjusting them, and just because a manual says to back off the adjuster 33 clicks doesn't mean that's anywhere close to correct. Adjusted them until they barely dragged and backed off TWO clicks and now I've got some stopping confidence. When your trailer brakes are better than your regular brakes, that sucks.

I could tow with the FSJ, but I like overkill. It was rated for 5k towing, and my XJ weighs 4200 by itself.

I have pulled the XJ with a 3/4 ton Suburban and a 1 ton Dodge, and it's nice when you can relax while towing. Bumps, crosswinds and tongue weight don't phase 'em a bit. Towing to Redbird with the Dodge, I actually forgot the trailer was back there.

I could keep using the Dodge as a tow rig, but I hate borrowing stuff all the time. The trailer is one thing, but to borrow a complete towing combo I feel bad. That and the mileage sucks with a 4 speed and a healthy 360.
