And what's wrong with carrying a stainless piece? Granted.... I wouldn't particularly want to carry my National Match Gold Cup.

The MTU Pistol Club has had pistols stolen multiple times over the years. They were stolen by an officer's kids (from K.I.Sawyer) once. Those were recovered. Hmmm... wonder if the storage box I helped to build is still in use?

Got the baby jeep interior Herculined last night...2 coats...

managed to keep it off my hootus...

btw, if you are looking to herc you're truck/jeep there is a $20 rebate good through the end of the year on a purchase, brings the entire kit with rollers down to $70 bucks...

mac 'rubber gloves are your friend' gyvr

The last kit I bought was $70 before the $20 mail in rebate.

13+1 (XD) or 7+1 (depending on magazines). The time I know of them being stolen they were at a Comp. in St. Louis (?).

Hootus... lol

Wait a sec.... Student Pistol Club, or ROTC Pistol Team? At least through the end of the 80's, the Student Pistol Club was not participating in any competitions (and had Ruger MkII pistols.)

Student Pistol Club/Team whatever you want to call it has Springfield 1911's

The club still uses Rugers (MKIII's now) for the public's use.

The picture on the front page of the paper has an incredible rack. And his luck is mostly of his own making.

God, I hate trash like that. What a waste. We have poachers like that here in Wisconsin too. They only catch a fraction of them tho.

Right now, I'm sitting in the Super 8 in Merrill, WI (really roughing it:laugh3:)
My brother and I spent the day scouting out the area. Love the northwoods. I've told my wife a bunch of times if she kicks me out I'm heading up here. We're up in Lincoln County, near Harrison between Merrill and Rhinelander for those that know the area. Haven't seen many deer here the last few years but I just love this area too much to change.

They sure did a lot of clear cutting this past spring and summer...going back out again tomorrow for some more scouting. Pretty wet today but it's supposed to clear up tomorrow and Saturday. Too warm. Wish we had some snow. Lots of bear sign. Little deer sign. Don't care. Saves on the bullets. :looney:

Whoops! Duck Commander is back on!!

I had to move to the Northwoods. I live near the WI/MI border near highway 141. Have not seen a buck all year and my Fiancee almost wipes one out with the gas miser. Good thing I put all new brakes on all fours. Have seen many signs of bear and bear still running around at the bait piles. The DNR are a terrible bunch of liars as I swear I see more bear then deer.

I'm about 40 min south of you. Yes its supposed to be great on Saturday (as opposed to the sudden rain)! Sunny and in the 50's. I'm going home as supposedly there is a nice one trolling my parents and neighbors yard. At least you have some hill country up there. South of Wausau everything seems to just flatten out.

Guys should come over towards the Menomonie area... We're hitting deer over here like they're mosquitoes...

Normally I hunt in the Trempealeau/Buffalo County area just outside of Arcadia. Last year's Field & Stream buck was shot two valley's over.

Hey FLASH...did you get the proto type Rough Country ALL's in your 3" kit? :D

HAHA! Just ribbing ya on your sig :D

maybe you got the Add Lotsa Leafs that they were advertising?? :dunno:

Swattin' them like mosquitoes?

Not here in Lincoln Co forest. Even the mosquitoes are gone. :) This is public land and they've t-zoned the crap out of it the past 5 or6 years. Between the bears and the wolves the numbers are down. We scouted all day long. Walked a crapload of miles using a gps plus knowing this area from the past 18 years of coming up here and there is some deer sign but hardly any like it used to be. In fact, we saw some bear poop and I took a couple of pictures of wolf tracks that were the size of a large german shepard. Glad I pack my 44mag while I wander around the woods. :eyes:

I forgot my cable to attach the camera to the laptop so I have to wait until I get home to post those.

Trem/Buffalo co is known as the big buck area. Quite a few record bucks come out of there.

And about the DNR...um, yeah. I think they over-estimate things a tad. Although, I think the light is finally coming on for them. They offer at least 3 or 4 thousand bonus tags for area 52 every year...except this year they only had about 1600 which went like hotcakes the minute they went on sale. I've got some doe in heat pee. Let's see if a stupid little guy falls for it. The locals seem to believe the rut started a little later this year. Won't hurt to lay some out.

I really just love being up here. I try to come up here 2 or 3 times a year. Do some ice fishing and hang with the ol' hunting gang, play cards, drink and lie our azzez off! Plus I get to spend some time with my brother that I don't get to do very often. Good times.

Hey Tyler! Do you get to do any hunting between chores and such?

Thank God for the outdoor channel! Reminds me what the deer look like if I were rich and hunting private reserves. :looney:

yup, I could hunt off my proch if I wanted. I am not a big deer hunter anymore, it has become so commercialized since the county I live and farm in ranked in the top 10 Big Buck counties in the US a few years back. We work a deal with hunters and it is quite prosperous to us. I had 2 guys from NC come the 2 weeks before gun season to bow hunt, they gave me and my father in law both new Mathews Mission bows decked out w/ everything on them, 2 packages of Rage heads each, and a Double Bull Ground Blind. They are also getting us a trade hunt to go to South Carolina on a quail hunt (plantation type hunt w/ mules etc.) We just had a group from Utah leave yesterday morning and they shot 14 deer all together. They are inviting my father in law out on an all expense paid Elk trip..I passed b/c I could care less about shooting an elk. The NC boys only got one nice buck. I have been a birdhunter from way back, so when it comes to hunting, upland birdhunting is my game.

Dropped some bait off at my stand and wouldn't you know it but a small black bear was in the tree my stand is attached to. I can't believe these guys are still out this late in the year. Cut up about 5 cords of wood today and had 3 doe walk a 100 yards from where I was cutting using my 346XP Husqvarna. Probably won't see a deer all season now.

My sure-fire method for spotting deer was to walk around with birdshot loaded. The reverse also works for quail and pheasant- slugs mean birds thick like fleas. Better than bait, and I didn't feel like I was cheating. Never got a dang thing though.

Yeah Idk about our DNR... They are starting to get some heat under them though. I am an in the Izaak Walton League [a nationwide club that enjoys sporting] and they really lit them up at some listening sessions they had. Do agree about the late rut though, my dad and neighbor were seeing stupid bucks as late as early this week.

got the interior in the baby jeep tonight...some "other" things installed...just too drunk to post pics at the second...

mac 'its good to have floorboards' gyvr
