I lived at a place that had a constant wet spot in the yard. Grass was hard to mow and even days after rain the ground was gushy. Planted a weeping willow, thing grew like crazy, wet spot was gone. When I moved a few years later, the willow had grown about 20 foot tall and around the same amount around. The guy that bought the house had the same feelings about willows as you. He cut it down. Called me about 3 months later to ask me about how I dealt with the wet spot in the yard.
