Important

Rev! What do you do for a living anyways?

Considering you were in Duluth yesterday, that's not much of a drive.

As far as what he does, right now, apparently, he's freezin' da boys off.

Well.....I am actually in Superior....but I can see Duluth from my hotel window. Duluth is the DMA, so that is where I say I am...force of habit.

Flex - I am a professional tourist.

I work for a company that supplies content to DISH Network and a few others. I maintain, build, repair, add, remove, and pretty much everything else involved with getting local channels into the fiber "pipe" back to one of our uplinks. I cover an area from Terre Haute to Fargo. I drive between 5 and 6000 miles a month, M-F.

Currently we are getting ready for Febuary, the 17th, when most analog television channels go dark and the broadcasters find out how much they need to learn about digital....NOW.

Picture this:
Drive 5-7 hours (sometimes 12) to a location, check into a hotel, sleep till 1AM, work till 4:30AM, sleep, then repeat.

I "work" 12 hours a week, the rest is driving. When I have project that can be done during the day I work during the day also.

The good part:
If I have more night work then can get done in 3 hours, I stay the next day and finish the next night. I get to do what I want during the day. Example, I drove to Superior, WI from Minneapolis on Tuesday, slept all night, met with contractors for about 2 hours this morning, and had the rest of the day. Of course, Thursday I have to drive back to Monee, IL...pick-up equipment...go home and try to sleep...drive to Milwaukee at 11:30PM, work a few hours, then drive home.

I love my job. I talk to my boss via phone about once a week, I see him maybe once every two months, see a co-worker maybe once a year. No office BS, no petty crap, no cube. My office view changes almost everyday, I listen to what I want, choose my own routes, and usually my own schedule. Company pays ALL expenses during the week, and I have a company vehicle, 4X4 Ranger, that they pay the gas and maintinance on.

how many stogies are you smokin a day?
still got that "chew" habit?

Oh wow seeing the boss once every 2 months that sounds rather nice! I meant to ask you at carnagefest but i forgot too.

We have been together almost 25 years and married for 21 years, you take someone for granted when they are around all the time. We appreciate the time we do have together more, now that's its limited. So yes, some weekends are like a 2nd honeymoon (figure it out).

Rev's hours now explain why he has the ability to alway be the last one standing at any bonfire.

Don't forget to mention he is the first one up too! :D

Sitting here at Inacom for Microsoft Office 2007 training.....

I think my brain is leaking....:shiver:

I hear ya. This week I'm at Network Manager's Security Course and next week is going to be a Net+ boot camp.

As a side note, it's amazing how unsecure most computers actually are.

<snort> Repeat after me: most people are insufficiently paranoid. </snort>

I have been tied up with a series of internal audits for the past week, and still have 2 more weeks of this left. Nothing like a good ol' Federal Audit to keep a person busy. (I am the one auditing, not being audited..just for clairification! :D )
