Looong term project. A lil' here, a lil' there. I know a guy that can help me out with the block work. It was too good of a deal to pass up.

Well I'll be damned ... you mean someone from Illinois is like a Hoosier. Hell, everyone over here has a spare bathtub and stool out back in the weeds. :D

I've been considering selling my XJ and starting over with a smaller build. It seems every time I turn around something needs attention on it, (which I know will be true of any vehicle) but most have to do with modified or aftermarket stuff. Plus, if I get hired on with DNR, I won't have time to properly use it.

Doesn't help I stumbled across a good base rig near Terre Haute this afternoon. 91 or 92 Laredo, 4.0, 242, 8.25 - $1500. I'm pretty confident I could build it the way I want on a minimal budget.

Hopefully once I get mine back on the road again I won't feel this way, but I dunno.

Most of the time here in IL, they take the tub and cut it in half, then stand one half of it up in the front yard with concrete statue of Mary in it. The other half makes a good dog house, also a great storage spot for a spare engine. As for toilets, they make great planters, just add some potting soil in the bowl and a few seeds...

Hmmm ... use 'em for art. Now that's an idea ... The toilet idea ... do you fill it half full of dirt, then sit down and fertilize before finishing filling it up?

Hoosiers are not quite that sophisticated ...

We use bath tubs for watering troughs/swimming pools. Set it out in the pasture and run a hose to it. When the cows get done drinkin', we take a dip and cool off.

I laugh, but I also know. We don't have hurricanes up here, but I remember taking a dip in the trough between loads of hay. Washes the chaff off as well as cools ya down.
