Haleyes said:I work in the Environmental Lab for an OEM Lighting manufacturer. I mainly do vibration, corrosion, and water spray testing along with a few other odds and ends. All new product has to go through our lab before it goes into production. If there are any changes with lamp componets during it's production, it also has to be recertified through the lab. Our biggest customer is Toyota. We have 5 plants total, of the 5 there is only 1 Environmental Lab.

The hard drive in that HP unit is going to die in 18 months, make sure you do backups regularly Sean, they use Samsung drives that bring the suxors.
morons, if it came in without a drive I certainly wouldn't have given you one.goodburbon said:Dunno, I have had one for 2 years. Mobo died, but both hard drives are fine. 250gb x2 baby!
Actually the mobo died under warranty, so I sent it back to them. But I know that the first thing those a-holes do is reformat and fresh install when they get a machine in. So I pulled the HD. They replaced the motherboard, the missing hard drive and sent it back to me. I got it, opened it up to put the drive back in and was like......woah, free drive.

what brand drives in yours?
most all of the new ones are coming with samsung spinpoint drives.
Not only are they slow, but they tend to die a horrible death with media failure right after the warranty period.
I've dealt with 3 HPs this month that were brought in because they were slow, all were about 15 months old, and they all had bad sectors on the drives. From the serial numbers I could tell that they were all Hecho en Mexico.
