I'm working for the Army tracking training for units deploying overseas.

cool, you reserve? or Gov contract? Last I knew, was no active posts in Wi.

I work in the Environmental Lab for an OEM Lighting manufacturer. I mainly do vibration, corrosion, and water spray testing along with a few other odds and ends. All new product has to go through our lab before it goes into production. If there are any changes with lamp components during it's production, it also has to be re-certified through the lab. Our biggest customer is Toyota. We have 5 plants total, of the 5 there is only 1 Environmental Lab.

Same place you do. But I get to do hot/cold, dust & chemical testing. What is nice about the job is: you get a list of test to be done & you make your own schedule. JIM.

Mike , you really need to use spell check.

I keep reading that a few of you have to travel alot for your work. This may have been asked before, but I'm, nor is anyone gonna sift thru 500 plus pages of threads. So the ? is what do you do for a living? I'll start off. I've been a mechanic for the past 20 plus years. Chime in, when ya get a chance.

I am first a farmer, and secondly I work for the US Dept of Ag. Ironically, I do not receive any "free Gov money" !! Maybe I should work on that :D I'll never get rich doing either job, but they both have great benefits.......

I'm a mob'ed reservist. While not an active post, Ft. McCoy has plenty of AC Soldiers to support the mission of training reserve troops for deployment.

Active duty USMC, 11 years, SSgt

Tiltrotor mechanic, right now I'm the Quality Assurance Chief

Too much paperwork, not enough wrenching. Of course, when I was younger, I had too much wrenching and not enough paperwork.

The hard drive in that HP unit is going to die in 18 months, make sure you do backups regularly Sean, they use Samsung drives that bring the suxors.

Dunno, I have had one for 2 years. Mobo died, but both hard drives are fine. 250gb x2 baby!

Actually the mobo died under warranty, so I sent it back to them. But I know that the first thing those a-holes do is reformat and fresh install when they get a machine in. So I pulled the HD. They replaced the motherboard, the missing hard drive and sent it back to me. I got it, opened it up to put the drive back in and was like......woah, free drive.

morons, if it came in without a drive I certainly wouldn't have given you one.

what brand drives in yours?
most all of the new ones are coming with samsung spinpoint drives.
Not only are they slow, but they tend to die a horrible death with media failure right after the warranty period.
I've dealt with 3 HPs this month that were brought in because they were slow, all were about 15 months old, and they all had bad sectors on the drives. From the serial numbers I could tell that they were all Hecho en Mexico.

WDs aren't anything to write home about either.

I don't trust hard drives, not even in RAID sets. That's what offline media (and multiple copies) are for.
