Too cool that Hertz is doing this.
In the late 60s/early 70s they did the same thing; you could rent a Shelby Mustang from them.
They discontinued it when their rentals kept showing up at drag strips.
Guys would rent them for a day and flog them at the strip that night.
That was the whole reason behind them!
Kind of like renting a TJ from cliffhanger rentals....

The current fleet will be go back to Ford at thier end of rental life, mine was an '06 and only had 9K miles. Ford will then sell them, you will be able to contact Shelby Motors and have them "tuned".

Until today...this was the Kauai ride....

However......a run to Polihale State park, down a rutted sand and rock road, then a high-speed thrash along Waimea Canyon trashed the Tracbars tie-rod end.

So, this has taken its place...

You forgot to mention the humongous potholes.

The independently suspended Explorer we rented a few years ago did pretty nice at speed on that "road".
How many tourists going 2 mph in their cars did you have to pass?

Are you taking pics of anything besides vehicles? :D

Nothing like taking the rental back with damage and exchanging it for a different one :D

Apparently Hertz in HI prefers Ford products... wish they had given me that when my wife totalled my Dakota instead of a Hyundai.

Oh...there was a road there?

Drove past Anini the other day.....wow.

so, wife's grandmother goes to get tires on her XJ, I set her up with the local tire guy. She got the tires, I went by to check it out and make sure all was well. Stuck my head under the XJ, it's freaking mint. I'm gonna have to take pictures this weekend.

not even rust on the bolt heads.

it's a patriot blue 99, with a grand total of 39K miles on it.
The factory goodyears still had tread, but they were dry rotted.

Can't read it I am not registered.

Long story short. Sean's gonna have to raise sheep somewhere else. EPA wants new smog limits, as low as 65 parts per million down from the current 85 parts per million. Article mentions 6 more counties that won't meet the 'new' limit. All of Metro East, and Winnebago.

An old friend stopped by the other day. The one on the left is the first iteration of my black cherokee and was replaced by the one on the right.

For Sale?

Gonna buy it back?

Nope. Although I would like the tires back from it. I was in the process of building a d44 with disc brakes 4.56 and an aussie before I sold it. He's giving it back to me along with the tru-trac and matching gearing for the front when I get the time and money to finish it. That probably won't be anytime soon since this jeep is my new money pit.
