Important

Jeff sounds good. If your looking to do a trip up there, let me know.

Yeah i never thought about the acid. Ive seen lawnmower batteries done with older teenage kids.
It probably wouldnt be a good idea for younger kids.

The 12v lawnmower battery would be kinda hard on the electric motors as well.

So my four wheeler batteries would be great? They are totally sealed. I appreciate the heads up about acid burns or spillage from a mower battery. Thank You

Lawnmower/motorcycle batteries are intended to be used at high amperage rates for very short times, not discharged and recharged constantly.

Been in the garage the last three hours trying to build a on board welder.

No luck... But, I've learned...

Hope to have it figured out before Harlan.

taped up 14 bad arse 14bolt axle vs the ho hauler axle shaft.

have to change an axle seal on the ho hauler and am turned on a little by the massivness of the axle shaft.

Played in the mud Friday night. Local buddies........on private land. Land owner was present. I played recovery beeyotch and was basically pulling everyone else out. Still had some mild carnage.

It just spit out one cap. I didn't notice it until I got on the road to head home. Looks to me like the ear is elongated a tad. I may be in the market for a D30 stubbie.

On a side note: Does anyone know what's involved to swap in Ujoint shafts into a CV jointed D30? It'd be on a 94 Grand Cherokee.

That ear is definately wallered out*. I have a complete set of D30 spares if you can't find a stubby.

As for the CV -> ujoint swap, it should be bolt-in. Edit: I've considered swapping my XJ over to CVs, I can get them replaced for $39 at Advance under our commercial account :D

*technical term :D

swap them like you would on an XJ...they are interchangeable...if the grand is full time 4x you'll feel the ujoints up front, otherwise no biggie...

Did some wrenching on the FSJ this weekend. I swapped in a 140 amp alternator to replace the stock 85 amp unit. I attempted to save a few bucks by getting a junkyard alternator, but as it turns out it has a bad diode in it; drained my battery overnight.

Guess I'll have to bite the bullet and fork out $135 for a parts store alt. At least then I'd get a lifetime warranty. That's what I get for being cheap.

get a factory alternator rebuilt at a local place? we have one here that makes the rebuilt units outlast any junko parts store lifetime warranty crap...

i swapped the 242 out of the baby xj last night for the 231 with an aa sye...still need to replace the floor pans in it...along with a laundry list of other things...

mac 'the 242 is already spoken for as it was a deal in a trade last year...before anyone asks' gyvr

Yeah, we have a place that can do it. Their stuff isn't great. I took several of their rebuilt units in as cores when I worked at Advance. I could take this JY alt in for rebuild, but at that point I would have $110 in a JY alt with no warranty vs. $135 in a lifetime warranty alt from Advance I can swap out anywhere in the US.

Part of the fun is that it is from a 94 Caddy Deville, not a Waggy :D

So XJ shafts would work? Same length?

I think you should send me that fender flare that I bought off you almost a month ago.....thats what I think.

I think you should state who you are talking to...........that's what I think.

yes without a doubt...i put my spare shafts for the baby xj in my dad's 96 zj while "I" rebuild the cv joints...to get him by, then when i got the cv's rebuilt, i put them back in and got my spare baby jeep shafts back...

he is the one that hooked my up with my spares from dana "back in the day" so I figured that I owed him...tho I owe him more than that...

mac 'all in the same d30' gyvr
