Important

Dan what year is your rig. I think 98 went to plastic tank that doesn't have the lip around it, so it's not as easy as cutting hole in floor and moving up....

This^

metal lips are so simple. Plastic i would just swap to a fuel cell and be done. You can get a cell made to use stock sending unit to make it simple.

I've used hi lift style jacks around the farm dozens of times, but never in an off-road situation. Doubt it'll see a lot of use, but best to have and not need right?

Just marked the calendar at work for WF. Also going to Ouray this summer.

Thoughts on 35s with stock D30 shafts and a lunchbox locker? Got a line on a cheap set but don't want to pop shafts every trip and I don't have the cash to drop on alloys just yet.

Not worried about the 8.8.

it's fine as long as you have 297 shafts and don't wheel like an idiot.

Dan, seems like a solution looking for a problem. You've never had issues hitting your tank in anything before and there's no real validity to the idea that leaf springs protect it.

I would be concerned with fumes, but also the idea that you're exposing the passenger compartment to a gas tank in a rollover.

If you're not going on trails where you might rollover, you could keep the leaf springs and not bother with a coil conversion. So if you're doing coils, you should be working the jeep hard and think about fireballs of gas in your trunk area.

I guess i do not understand this part of your reasoning. The tank is sealed, in a rollover it would still be sealed. Unless you have a leaky gas cap ring. vents are still outside the vehicle also.

Because seal leak over time, in a foll over things get tossed around and become projectile tjat can pierce a tank. I have owned several old vehicles that had gas tanks insider the cab, they all smelled like gas inside. We are smarter now than we were in the 1940s.

because shit happens.

there's a reason that every motorsports authority in the world requires a sealed firewall between the driver and the fuel tank.

Not to mention I've had both, a hard rollover and a gas fire.

Did I mention IRO has free shipping this month. Easier button.

That's a good point.

I would imagine anyone considering this would also finish the job of sealing it from the passenger compartment. Mine is inside the hatch area. But sealed and fully welded and bolted to prevent any issues from a rollover or collision.

It is not a bad idea as long as it is done safely. But to each there own.
