Thought iPads didn't have GPS?

3G and 4g iPads have a GPS receiver built in, like the iPhone. You don't have to have the data service.

I bought a wifi only one, which doesn't have a gps antenna, but I'm going to transmit the gps signal over Bluetooth, which is more accurate and reliable than the antenna they cram into the more expensive iPads. The Bluetooth GPS receiver I posted is $125, but it connects to 5 devices, so if the boys want to see where we are in the back of the car, they can access that gps information on their iPods just like I am on the iPad.

The bad elf receiver is also capable of data logging and has a small LCD screen, so if you're a hiker or a biker, you can throw it in your pocket and record where you go and download it later to your computer or whatever.

A lot of the pilots I work with are using these receivers and aeronautical gps apps on their iPads to supplement the information in their planes and a lot of private pilots are using it rather than spend a ton of money on a gps enabled avionics suite for their airplanes. It's basically a moving map for them and it only costs $600 instead of a ton of modifications to the planes.

I have a flight out of Milwaukee to Detroit (then driving over to Canada) for work. I had a flight last cold snap and ended up sitting in the airport for a day, I have a feeling that is going to happen again...

colder in sheboygan, glad I installed the block heater :spin1:

just changed the alternator and oil sending unit on the 8.1.

Sending unit is on back of block on top next to fire wall.......tight squeeze.

Well gonna be changing the thermostat and coolant in Jeep today as it is required. What temp thermostat does everyone recommend? Should I stock with the stock 195 temp or something else?

stock. just get a quality one. cheapos are sometimes faulty right out of the box.

Went to trader joes today, apparently the day after a snow storm is not a good day to go.....bunch of Prius' and minis' in the parking lot....

Maybe I will have my XJ back by the end off next week. I thought I had ruled out the battery on my moms van, but one of my moms neighbors brought his battery charger/jumper over and it cranked. Even ran for about five minutes. I was about to drive it up to my place to put air in a tire and it died. If I have my foot on gas pedal, it will run shortly so I am thinking in the month it has sat, the gas tank froze. Of course all the stores are out of heet to defreeze it. Any ideas on what to use as a replacement. I think the temperature is helping, but not fast enough.

How did you get from dead battery to frozen fuel tank?

That troubleshooting tree doesn't make any sense. Charge the battery with a battery charger until it's completely charged. The alternator is not designed to charge a dead battery. If it runs until the battery is dead again, then the alternator is bad.

Battery was never dead, but it was doing the same thing with my XJ's battery as with the van's battery when it was put into the van. I am not sure what it was, the cause isn't for sure. Just know when a charger was plugged in and set to jump, it cranked. It will run for a few seconds with my foot on the gas before it dies. That is why I am thinking frozen gas tank from sitting. The battery is old, so maybe it doesn't have enough cranking amps to turn the starter? Anyway, the starter turns fine now, but the engine won't turn over or stay running.

I just can't find any bottles of Heet to see if the gas in the tank is frozen as we have had very few days above feezing.

gas shouldn't freeze unless tehre is a ton of water in it. you have something going on that is shutting off your spark or injectors. i would also guess you have a bad alternator

today was fun!
