anyone else have an annoying friend on facebook who posts vague statuses about how they're a failure and how they are an awful marriage partner??? seriously...coming to facebook for a pity party gets 0 sympathy from me, and i'm a very sympathetic person. i've even tried to help the dude out a few times. he is in a similar situation as me. he works freelance, is married and now has a little girl at home. i've tried to help him find work, but quite honestly he is not the type of person who will just swallow his pride, put his head down and work when the going gets a little tough. he expects higher level jobs to magically fall into his lap...i would guess he's probably 8-10 years younger than me, so maybe he will learn. honestly though, if you feel like a failure as a husband and as a person, facebook isn't going to fix it.

ugh...RANT off...

I hate people like this, I will unfriend most, or at least block them.

However, depending on the situation, and the person, they may be calling for help. I had a friend on fb the was very bipolar, one day she was the most up beat girl, the next she had a 'fuk the world' attitude.

She killed herself a week before Christmas. I had gut feeling before she made her final decision, but I did nothing.

You never know.

so your friends with my cousin?

the kid is a bop. aside from being just completely awkward to be around... he can never do anything or work hard unless there is an immediate reward, can never go out of his way. never tries hard or does anything with any sort of haste. apparently hes going to school for physics and mathmatics (which i really dont see happening), but when i asked him about the LHC (large hadron collider, the largest particle accelerator ever created. its the holy grail of physics research) he didnt even know what it was. just sits on his ass unless someone spends their hard earned money for him to do something. goes fishing and hunting with his and my father, NEVER seems to actually enjoy it. hes good at neither, and tries at neither. i honestly think its just an excuse to sit around and see if he can snag a few beers, because the kids got a drinking problem. him and all of his dune koon friends do, hes the token (very) white kid... hes just ****ing weird.

but more related... hes always posting on facebook about how life is so hard and that no one understands him, and blah blah blah. ive tried being nice, ive tried helping. but after seeing zero effort to change, i said F'it. it was so often that i had to delete him. like, dude... you come from a middle class family with parents that are willing to break their neck for you. nut up or shut up... whats sad is that his father is one of the nicest and hardest working people i know. its honestly to the point that i wont go on trips or family functions if he is there, especially if it has anything to do with outdoors. he doesnt care to be there, and just ruins my stoke.

Does the horn say "sorry" when you hit it?

no, it goes, "donch'ya know, eh?"

I seriously hope its not a cry for help, but unfortunately its impossible to tell for the most part since I don't see him face to face anymore. he's a fairly smart guy, but always has had an superior attitude about him...for instance, on a lot of the gigs we did (large scale indoor and outdoor concerts) the techs are always in charge of running the crews of local hands. when stagehands would do something incorrectly or something dangerous or wrong was happening, he is the type that would stand back and yell at them and call them incompetent. on the other hand, i'm more inclined to jump in to help or show them how to do something correctly even though i've been working in the industry twice as long as him...the worst thing you can do is turn your stagehand crew against you at the beginning of a 2-3 day event...

i don't know...i feel for the guy and his situation, but i seriously want to just post "well if things are so tough, get your ass off facebook and go do something" but then i worry about ever having to work with him in the future. who knows, maybe its what he needs to hear.

i got fired from a job when i was 16 (mostly my fault, but partly the situation as well) and without ever saying it directly, i could see how disappointed my father was. it was a really a turning point in my life and lit a fire under my ass to always work hard. i guess not everyone has had an experience like that, but i'm glad i did.

it might be what he needs to hear... but itll be hard for him to appreciate it being said if he is the kind of guy who wants a single solution for all of his problems. facebook probably isnt the place to say it either.

Does it have daytime running lights? My 2000 was originally sold in Canada and had them.

I expected it too, but it doesn't...

I swapped the Celsius gauge cluster out for an American one...

Just spent 3 hours and $170 at the take a part getting a pile of parts...

mac 'got to a fresh jeep they just put out' gyvr

What block heater did you end up getting? One that replaces a core plug or one that goes in the lower radiator hose?

freeze plug..no leaks so far, I added some black RTV along with the rubber o-ring.

I went with the Phillips and Temro (zerostart brand)

I need the LH and RH plastic trim that goes around the headlights and the parking lamp screws to, if anyone has them laying around.

I think they are like $9 on rockauto.

Ok need some input on crank sensor testing. I just back probed the trigger wire off the crank sensor and got about 2.5 volts out of it while it was cranking. Now to my thinking this would mean the crank sensor is bad since I would think it should be getting back the 12 volts that's feeding it correct?

Incorrect method of testing
You need an oscilloscope to properly test a Crack sensor
One it's generally a 5v reference
Two it's not a constant output while cranking
Three. We need a year and Engine

Just last night I checked my cps with an analog meter using the information listed in the link that was posted earlier. that method worked. I had a bad cps, and the cps on the shelf was good and I tested it before I installed it.

Light wheels and sticky tires for the car are much cheaper than Mud terrains! I can get the wheels and tires I want for the price of 3.5 KM2's!

3 pin CPS is a Hall effect sensor, it's fed either 5 or 7-8 volts (depending on the year of the XJ) not 12 volts, the return signal is a pulse every time a hole in the flywheel/flexplate goes by. So a multimeter, regardless of type, isn't gonna tell you much unless the thing is cranking reeeeeeeally slow. eflores is right, you need an o-scope.

The multimeter test for 3 pin CPSes is basically just checking if they are completely smoked. It won't catch one that is partially failed or still draws power but doesn't do anything. So basically if one fails that test, it's 100% bad, if it passes, it might still be bad. My least favorite kind of electrical test.

Sorry for the confusion in all this, its actually on a 2001 Chrysler Sebring car. I know I know not a Jeep. Just need to get it running again so I can get rid of it for a Jeep.

It's almost certainly a 3 pin hall effect unit. Aside from German cars and Nissans I can't think of anything in the 90s or later that isn't.

Germans really like VR type 2 pin sensors and Nissan has actually used OPTICAL crank/cam sensors. How that is a good idea I will never know.
