Important

Went to Hannibal, MO on Saturday to see Tyler and pick up some parts from myself and some other peeps. Coming back the new-to-me truck began blowing smoke under the slightest load and it's not fast anymore. I've suspected my fuel pressure regulator has been going out but now I'm wondering if I have something else going on, maybe a boost leak. Don't want to fix it, but I don't want to pay for it either. Hoping one of these days I can get a truck that will go 1000 miles without needing some major repair.

Mac, it looks like the next race is August 25th, assuming that's the next time you'll be out to the Badlands? I can bring Dan's bumper out to you.

Sam/Rew, I'm out of town the next two weekends but if either of you want to come down I'll get you my address and let you know how to get into the garage. Being creative I think you could get it all into an XJ with the seat folded down. Remember you've got those axles now and that 36" tire for arthur (if you don't mind).

Wastegate stuck open? Had that happen on a 7.3 I was driving once. Felt like someone kicked the truck in the nuts.

August 25th I will be at badlands
Labor day weekend hoping to be at R/V
So that should work on the bumper, or if brendon can bring it up here next weekend, doesn't matter to much.

Whatever works guys. It's an option though, I wasnt sure if you wanted it any sooner Dan. I should find out about Chicago today.

bm 'it's spelled Brendan guys!' yohn :laugh3:

Needs more than a week for his...did you see that list?

Went to Apple Valley Farms Friday - Sunday. Smaller group this time, all the rigs were relatively similar in build, so we had a blast cruising the trails. New suspension is SICK, I only ever hit the cross-member once. Got the nickname '4Low' cause I never seem to be in it...

Left AVF and drove over to the cities to look at apartments. Ended up getting one in Maplewood which is nice cause it has a small-town feel to the area and is quiet with no noise from being so near I-694, I-35E, Hwy 36...

Now heading back to Wisconsin cause I picked up a set of 5 brand new American Racing Soft 8 rims 15x8 with 3.75 BS from another club member who is selling off all he owns to move to Hawaii...

Brad. I may driving up I65 to Chicago from Indy next week on my way to a Chrysler warehouse. After that I am stopping at Mac's to pick up the jeep. Then back to Auburn Hills. If it's easier for the parties involved, I can pick up the bumper from you then deliver to either Mac or Dan if he wants to meet up in Michigan before August 17th.

Just an option. I should find out today if I will be heading to Chicago or not.

I am not nearly as close to I65 as I used to be, but I will PM you my address and you can map it. If you want to grab it then great, if not then I'll take it to macgyvr.

I don't believe they are wastegated because it is variable vane (like your 6.0). I know the FPR is on its way out, if I scan it at idle it bounces from 4000-7000psi when it should be holding steady at 4000psi. However it had still been running fine until Saturday when all of the smoke and loss of power started.

Of course I need the truck for the next few weeks so there isn't a real good time to take it in to a shop. The internet suggests a boost leak can cause both the power loss and smoke, because it is using the MAF sensor (pre-turbo) to determine fueling but then the boost leak causes there to be less air which results in overfueling and me looking like an a-hole diesel owner. Thinking a the first step is capping off both sides of the intercooler piping, hooking up a regulated air source and checking for leaks... maybe?

I'm hoping to do a shake down run next Sunday. Brendan, bring your jeep and the bumper. :D

Come on now, I can knock a few things off the list. Like paint shackles lol

I have diff covers coming this week, and you are fixing the driveshaft. And matching lug nuts...come on it's all auto zone had in stock at the time LOL

As of right now the trip to Chicago is off. But if need be I don't mind meeting Brad somewhere on 465 if you need the bumper Dan.

Might be quicker to just fire it up and check all the pipe connections with your hand. No boost would definately make it smoke with all the fuel the computer is pouring in it.

I do bleed air leak checks by hand with a glove on the turbines in the aircraft and those are coming at you at 300-400 celsius. You'll feel it if you have something leaking in your pipes with just your bare hand and it's not high temp.

Yikes, don't stay caught up for three weeks and it goes to crap in here.

Let's recap: Cheese curds are generally fried at restaurants unless you're buying fresh ones from the store.

Rob, I don't see you ever being that angry you struck me as a friendly dude.

I've not cut or injured myself too seriously; but the most recent was with a stainless circular trimmer (for cutting plastic, sharper and more durable than a fresh razor blade) blade as I pushed it from the wax packaging band right into both of my index fingers and sliced the palm sides of them from the knuckle to tip.

Kimmer, a Conti would be sweet, gangsta.

Rotated my tires finally, holy crap what a difference! Was actually able to get a decent alignment in the front now all shimmying is gone now too.

Lastly: My good buddy/roommate was in a motorcycle wreck two weeks and a day ago. He took a buddies bike for a spin and was gone too long to be a "spin"; went looking for him 45 minutes after he left and I found him in a gully filled with sumac approx. four hours after the accident. He got picked up by ambulance and they met the flight for life in Stevens Point after which he was flown to Marshfield. He's been off of artificial sedation almost a week and a half and all of his vitals are pretty good though he's still not awake yet, we've all been pulling for him.

That's all I got for today.

Yeah no Lincoln for me. It had ALOT of new parts on it but I didn't want to mess with replacing the transmission on it. If scrap prices were up I would get it to scrap but it is around $120.00 a ton right now so screw it.

Brad, me and sunset aren't in a hurry so we prolly don't need to brake into your garage when your not there. :D

Pulling for your pal, Brian. Cycle accidents are never pleasant (and I know this from personal experience.)

Austin, I'd offer to help you move w/ pickup and open trailer, but I'm pretty much unavailable until after Labor Day weekend, and that'll probably be too late. I've got at least 1 weekend in the data center here, as well as 2 weekends in the air. Labor Day weekend is Dodge maintenance.
