I don't understand why there has to be hostility between the two departments. Most of the parts guys I have worked with are stand up guys. Though there have been a couple instances when dealing with certain people makes things difficult.

I don't like having a former tech as a parts guy. They try to diagnose the issue as you order parts. Just gimme my damn parts...

well i have not worked with you so i cant assume you are the same way, BUT most tech are dicks:D that for some reason are under the impression the they are my boss, they know everything, think that they are as flawless as God, and for some reason get super pissed when we don't have a door lock actuator for a 94 ranger in stock. also imo being a parts guy sucks because for some reason ANYTHING that goes wrong in a dealership can somehow can be pushed down the line to being parts fault.

Or a DVR that's *NOT* provided by your cable or dish provider.

TimeWarner has just patented a method to prevent commercial skipping. This is a *REALLY* good reason to not get a bundled DVR with your cable subscription.

The company I do not work for, DISH, is being sued because the Hopper will skip commercials.

Who might you ask is sueing them? ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX.

Yup.

What most people don't realize is that commercials are the product. Not the shows, not subscriber fees, not really even syndication. In the eyes of the network, if I can watch the show without watching the commercials, they've failed their customer (another big hint, I ain't their customer.)

This started to be a problem with home VCRs. Digital Video Recorders have made this much more apparent. The case that Rev referred to is by no means the first, and it won't be the last.

I figured that at some point netflix and others will also have commercials. i dont have it anymore but for a while there on demand was slipping little 15 or 20 second commercials in.

I realize it, of course I work at a tv station. My dvr at home is like a vcr, so I program like it and then have to fast forward through the commercials.

Also, commercials are getting bad on youtube. Some you can skip after five seconds, others you have to listen to the whole 30 seconds (or if you do like me, mute the speakers until it is over).

Ya bunch of crybabys just watch the damn advertizement! BFD get over it.

The accident wasn't my moms fault. Found some potential new vans on craigslist, maybe Monday look at some lots in town.

Ive jockied parts and worked as a tech. It does depends on the parts guy. I try not to act like a dick to our parts/servicewriter. He has no mechanical ability and has no idea whats going on. Hes a good guy tho.
