I seen rope use before. Didn't think that would hold to well. Your way sound like put everything in a tote tightening it down.

That or a tool bag.

I won't speak for the tech folks, but if you could show the rope is tight and won't loosen, its possible it would be fine. Ratchet straps are just quicker and easier.

So on Monday I caught my hand with the sharp end of a razor knife and got 9 stitches. The 'lead' maintenance guy did my job while I was out. I got a call from the plant manager yesterday asking me to come in and shadow him until I can use my hand again. It looks like the 6 hours of downtime in 2 days made them realize how much I do and got me a raise.

Dad got his Jeep back from the dealer today.

They did not replace the heads. Found one of the hydrolic adjusters was screwed up. Unsure if it was from an improper build of the motor OR if it was the poor start up with the missing o-ring.

The dealer did a wave thing, and the motor is in spec, so that's good. Its at the very edge of being in spec...so with more miles and wear it could be come out of spec.

So another $1300 at the dealership. That brings the total to over $4000 in the motor. He said it has 382 miles on it since the swap...and its been torn down in the Jeep twice, once from the bottom and once from the front top.

This truly has been the motor swap from hell.

He said it is running good at the moment.

Instead of just posting quote a short reply, why don't you add some useful information?

Well yeah, many of our fine vendors do offer various discounts. It is a perk of joining that we all are very grateful for. Feel free to check the sponsor info out for more information as I am not aware of all the discounts we are eligible for!

There Sean, now shuddup! :laugh3:

do any of the :NAXJA: sponsors give discounts?

It varies quite a bit. Some sponsor the club but don't give discounts, some give discounts to red letters, and some give discounts to anyone that's registered (meh). Some discounts are published and you enter a coupon code on a vendor's site when you order, and some you may have to e-mail and ask for a quote to get a discount.

What are you looking for exactly? You mentioned getting a locker, is that what you're looking to get a discount on?

I don't know if we have a complete sponsors list anywhere (or I just haven't found it), so I usually just run through the threads in Vendor Advertisements and Vendor's Specials forums periodically and see what everyone has for sale. Usually a vendor will have their discount information in the thread, or in their signature, you just have to sniff it out for yourself.

Let us know what kinda stuff you're looking for, I'm sure someone here has ordered something similar and can recommend a sponsor to go with.

For what axle, Dana 30, Chrysler 8.25? 27 spline or 29 spline?

Lock-rites are a firmer engagement (noisier), no-slips are a little nicer on the street but also a little more expensive. Also if you have (for instance) a Chrysler 8.25 with a limited slip, you can get a no-slip that will go inside the limited slip carrier but that isn't an option for the lock-rites. Might be cheaper than having to also purchase an open carrier to put a lock-rite into.

I picked up a Lock-rite for my 29spl 8.25" from JustDifferentials. Didn't get a discount but as far as I know they are the only people who have them available.

And, if you've got an 8.25. do *NOT* pull the carrier if you're not ready to set carrier preload and run a test pattern on the gear set.
