Important

The neighbors' 93 ZJ ate the driver's side front C/V joint in the knuckle. The nut was so corroded that I doubted that it was going to move. A Hi-lift handle on the end of the breaker bar, and it didn't even squeak, it just plain wasn't about to move.

That's when I assume the bearings are toast too and buy a new bearing... and stub shaft (cv joint I guess in this case.)

We had a 4' bar on the end of a breaker bar. The two of us were lifting the jeep off the jack stands. Brother in law is going to bring his electric impact over tomorrow night and I'll have another go at it. It just has to be done by this weekend.

Another thing you can try - torch the hell out of it with a propane or MAPP torch, that might break it free. If it doesn't, quench it with WD40 or aerokroil and do it again.

i miss my jeep. around summer time i plan on having money to buy another 4x4. dunno what yet tho. maybe that comanche ive always wanted.....

HOLY TRAILER! That thing is huge.

Spent the day welding on my HD stiffeners. Took the better part of the day. Still have some cleanup and painting to do.

got the stiffners on? id like to see them. tomorrow i might stop by your work and look under your undercarriage.

x2.

electric impact isn't going to touch it if a 4ft bar and two guys didn't get it done.

I've found MAPP works waaaaayyyy better than propane.

oh, and I forgot the most important part. You *MUST* apply the magic words, and in the right combination, or it will never come off.

Rust is a 4 letter word.

Torch, big impacts, booze, and cussing...

My dad swears by adding a little candle wax after heating it up, he believes the wax seeps into the threads and acts as a lubricant with rusty bolts.

Pretty productive weekend. Replaced all ball joints, hub bearings, axle joints, rotors, and brakes. Return the ball joint press tomorrow AM. Get replacement parts for tie rod boot, and bolts, and hopefully get new tires on the van. Have to run to Houghton Tuesday and the snow is starting to pile up there.

I use PB blaster though.

Have him pay the dealer to drop in a Mopar reman. Too much of your time and money has been spent already to monkey around re-pulling the engine or taking it to Franklin from the Fort.

Your name is the wrong color...
