Important

I'd figure probably 3 hours extra to Drummond Island vs. Elk Rapids.

Colors look like they're a little early this year.

they are. Fall has happened quickly. We went from 85 one day to 50 the next and it's stayed 50 in OH. Leaves have started to turn in a weeks time. Not too long before I have to clean my gutters, for the 4th time this year.

I hate maple trees.

I hate cleaning my gutters.

Was in training today...and tomorrow...and thursday...

Isn't it easier to get the grand kids in and out of the back of the Jeep you got rid of?

We spent the money a year ago last spring to get completely new gutters & caps put on the house. The existing gutters were only a few years old, but were filled with open-cell foam. That crap caught everything, and just turned the gutters into planters. When the old gutters were taken down, the foam blocks were completely permeated with rootlets.

The new gutters have been working pretty well. Don't have to clean them, and there's only a tiny little bit of crud I need to clean out of 1 valley on the roof.

Once stuff is growing out of my gutters that's when I know its time to clean them.

Around here, we went straight into early winter for a day or two and now it's back to summer temps/humidity again. Leaves are just barely starting to change.

Was going to suggest this, saw my neighbor standing on his flat roof with a blower in one hand and a beer in the other cleaning the gutters yesterday. I don't have gutters yet, so no cleaning gutters for me, but my plan is a leaf blower and then a shopvac to pull out anything heavy/wet. We usually cleared plugs in the downspouts at my parents house with an air compressor or a garden hose with a sprayer nozzle on it.

I have used my power washer for the gutters...though it does make a mess. I usually just do the bucket route so I don't have to clean up twice.

Just drove back from Nashville, TN. Looking at Wheeler's pics, compared to IN (starting to get some color), compared to TN (mostly green still)...pretty clear progression.

we have oak trees, so the leaves fall all winter long. I just put the hose in 1 end and stand on a ladder at the other end and clean the s*** out of that flows down.

I had industrial size downspouts put on the garage, most everything just flows down out of those

I'm still not sure if I am going to put gutters and downspouts on, or use those RainHandler things that just spread the droplets out (except for over doorways, of course.)

Way up in Da U.P. it is really starting to take off for color except of course right next to the lake shore. Had our first sunshine today for a few hours. Have not seen the sun here in 6 days. 3.25" of rain in 5 days is a decent soaking I'd say.

The tallest tree in my yard is 6 feet high, Hell the tallest tree in our 'hood is 12 feet high. that plus a two story house=no leaves in the gutters
And no leaves to rake......

I *HATE* Chinese elms. I know blasted well why the developer planted them, they grow fast.... and drop twigs, branches and leaves all the time. Utter garbage trees. I'm going to take out all of them on my lot, and probably drop in a couple of maple or oak trees as replacements.

I've got maybe one tree tall enough of getting leaves into the gutters, but even then I doubt it. Still have a lot of trees and a lot of leaves, but that's why I live in BFE now... nobody else cares how it looks and neither do I.

I guess I could just run over them when I mow, but after the leaves start falling I'll just assume the grass is done growing too.

You know, I'm just the assistant groundskeeper though, they say that doesn't mean anything until you're head groundskeeper... I've been doing a lot of reading though. You know... Cinch bugs. Uhhh... manganese. See a lot of people don't even know what that means.
