Important

Winter only sucks if you just have to "deal" with it. Find an activity :)

Positives:
No mosquitoes
Skiing
No mosquitoes
Snow Runs
No mosquitoes
Fire Places
No mosquitoes

There is a theme there somewhere ;)

Years ago, I would use the lakes to fly model rockets. Lots of open space, and no trees!

Winter does suck!

No boating
No bikini girls at the sand bar
No motorcycle riding
No camping
No deck parties
No green grass
No leafy trees
need I go on?

Try Iceboating

Ever been to a Polar Bear plunge? Well, OK, no sand bar...

Never been on Campus in the Winter? Plenty of MC riding ;)

People camp in the winter. Not you? Beer stays cold ;)

Need green leaves? Head for a pine forest!

Still no mosquitoes!! :D :D

Beer stays cold ;)

This is the only advantage I've seen. I took a 6-pack out to the shop the other day and just tossed it in the snow in the bed of the truck, and tossed it in the snow behind the shop when I got there. Unfortunately with Coors Light, there's so much water in them that they are prone to freezing.

I love winter...I have a heated shop and it is a "local" gathering spot  aside from livestock tanks freezing, the roads icing and the feed trucks getting stuck all the time, the batteries not wanting to turn over cold motors that were even plugged in, chopping ice on ponds, fighting hay bales that are froze down, heater problems in the hog barns, feed getting frozen in the augers, and a few other thing, I cant see why winter is so bad. I like all seasons really, they each bring a new element of surprise and that is what keeps things interesting around the farms. Oh, and the beer stays cold also :D

is this why Coors Light taste like piss?

I'm not sure, but I probably drink enough of it that my piss tastes like Coors Light. Whatever that's worth (not much).

It looks like my truck hates winter more than I do. If I have to start it below 30F without the heater, it sputters and shakes violently until it gets enough heat to start firing on all cylinders. Looks like some new glow plugs are in my future. Or something cheap and 4x4 to daily drive (I heard XJs were good), then I wouldn't care.

Sure am glad I have a heated garage. Wind chill this morning is below zero!! Time to get the front axle out from under the heap this morning. New BFG AT's going on the dd grand today. Along with a new starter.
I saw 2 degrees on the way to work this morning..... without the wind chill.

Agreed, I'm on the lookout for a ZJ, but it's gotta be yellow. I can't live without a yellow ZJ

Sorry that was a verrrry limited production "Malibu Barbie Edition," or so I'm told by my "friends".

I can meet you halfway and sell you a yellow ZJ with a white door, it looks like a twinkie. Or better yet, trade for the MJ?

:D

You don't want one of those, they're shit. Someone on the internet told me that they fold like tacos.

Yea maybe something with a frame would be better. Maybe a Tacoma, then it will just BE a taco instead of folding like one.

There's a 98 ZJ in C'ville with a bad trans... ad said 'Cherokee', I got all excited and drove over, only to see a Grand... looks really clean, price of "make offer". Tempted to go check it out in earnest.

So you're saying I can have a verrrry limited production yellow twinky-ized ZJ for the cost of a MJ with no drivetrain, interior, fenders, door, and bed? this sounds almost too good to be true!

you seem to hate bugs as much as I do.

Other positives:
No black flies
My butt-crack does not sweat while working on the jeep
No black flies
I do not sweat while repairing my house
No black flies
A sheet of cardboard on the sheer ice that is my parking space makes for a great poor man's mechanic crawler
No black flies
Ice skating
No black flies
The crackheads and thieves go into hibernation and aren't as likely to steal things from me
No black flies

I certainly don't miss the bugs. But they don't make a slush-spray to keep it from falling down my neck off of the overhanging vehicle I'm working on.

Here is a couple more cons

its cold
its dark going to work and coming home
shoveling
its dark going to work and coming home
they don't plow the streets
its dark going to work and coming home
black ice
its dark going to work and coming home
non heated garage (not that i ever work on the jeep in there)
its dark going to work and coming home
