i'm promotable!!!

LOL @ PLDC as a CPL... I was way in the running for honor-grad academically but had demerits out the foxhole. I liked the constant "busy work" during the out-of-class hours (like watering the Commandant's plastic flower garden and mowing/raking the barren yard.)

19-series BNCOC at Knox (one of maybe five E6 in a total class of -+ 75) was no picnic. The Scout Platoon had maybe fifteen of us... two 6s & a bunch of 5s. All a buncha misfits & hooligans. Six weeks of catching hell from all directions... Some very pure & brutal reamings from the Platoon Sgt and my Section Sgt...occasionally for 'absolutely nothing.'

If you get a slot to attend PLDC, you ought to Kris, it's full of those "YOU WILL SEE THIS STUFF AGAIN" leadership principles you will use all through life - not just during your Army career.

my 1sg told me i'm slotted for next month, but i gotta be able to run well enuf to pass the damn pt test first....since i messed my knee up in iraq it's making it hard to run anything over about a mile. plus pldc now is only 2 weeks long and chock full of being up at 330 in the morning

Missed my E-5 by 20 days, didnt have the retainablity when they finlay decided to send me. so ileft the army only to come in at a later date as a E-3. At the time about 12 yrs ago you had to have PLDC to get your SGT. I was in a E-5 slot for over a year as a E4P It's good they changed it. Anyway congrats

oh look someone with no brain decided to post in the wrong forum....go away, disease

nah the only thing that would cure the disease that decided to open his mouth is one really big bag of lime and a 50 gallon drum

Congrats, Kris!

Must have just been an MP thing, but when I was in we had to be able to identify rank of all branches of service. :) Not like it really mattered though. ;)
It's standard for the Marines to know the ranks for all of the other military services (except Air Force enlisted since they're just Civilians in Uniform). I noted that plenty of times while in Korea when we hit the Army bases to use the PX. Lifelong SGTs would look at my Cpl chevrons and get confused...

The Crossed Rifles (M1903s) would get them confused, as they were so accustomed to seeing Army CPL chevrons without rifles...I gave them up as clueless since the 8-pointed cover, US MARINES nametapes, sleeves rolled 'our' way and general squared-away bearing were overlooked as well....

Nevermind the crap from the MWC asshats; they troll through everyone elses Chapter forums trying to stir up their own kind.

You brought me here with this one.

So when my brother a USAF Col. gets shot at making sure that there is fuel available for you in the middle of the desert, then he is just a "Civilian in Uniform"?? Sorry...this is a BIG sore spot, the Air Force deserves the SAME amount of respect as ANY other service. My bro went is during Vietnam, and has made a great life for himself and his familly with the USAF, been overseas more time then I can count, been shot at, bombed, and had a aircraft crash into the building where he worked, so everytime someone makes a comment like that it just pisses me off.

Talk about disrespect.

Rev

rev i never said anything about the airforce......airforce is cool in my book....they were able to get me stuff from their px, and let me hang out at their pool in iraq.....as for the fuel issue, it was all trucked in by kbr employees while we were in iraq

Um... guys... when one service pokes fun @ another it's called "Ribbing". Don't take it so personal. I'm Navy and poke fun @ all the others, but when it comes down to it the respect for serving ones country, regardless of Branch of Service, is there. I think that people outside the military are about the only ones that actually take offense. Military members know what eachother sacrifice. Thats my opinion on the subject anyway, doesn't mean it's how all service people think.

Man, you other services promote way too quick. I'm in the Marines and I'm a Sergeant or as other services would say, I'm an E-5. I'm a damn good Marine and it took almost 5 years too pick that rank up. Now I'm going to be a recruiter. Oh yeah, Yes, I will admit that we are a department of the Navy, the men's department. haha.

Ah yes. I hear that. It was mostly 'how'd you get that job' more than it was 'how'd you get my job.' Must have all been ****ed in the head, but I RARELY met an MP who didn't have their crap together.
