Good Luck! I missed Chief's Board by less than a point... Bleh!

ouch that really sucks.....better luck next time....with yalls stuff, do you have to take a test, or do you go stand before a panel of people and answer questions like we have to?

For Chief we take a test and then if we score well enough in conjunction with other things our Service Record goes before the Chief's Board... they never actually see "us"... they see our Record.

Keep practicing! If you're running short on crayons for the test I'll send you some more.

Let me know.

:D

great news Chris, glad to hear that.

sounds like when our ssg's go for sfc.....their promotion paperwork goes before a board and the panel looks at it, they never see the individual....just based upon the persons ncoers and their service record is whether or not they get picked for promotion

Congrats SPC(P) Ladywolf...

When did they quit boarding SSGs? I had to stand one (back in the stone age) LOL made me a 22yo E6...the fools.

lol to go to the ssg board you have to go to the board, the e7 board you dont....your promotion crap goes before the board

What rank is SPC(P)? I'm an E-4 (SRA) soon to be E-5 (Ssgt) in the Air Force

Congrats afjeep2082!

SPC4 is an E-4. Promotable indicates she has met Time in Grade, and went to (and passed) the in person Promotions Board. At that point, the total points of awards/service are added to the points achieved in the Promotion Board. When her total points is equal to, or greater than what the DA decides is required to make E-5 for her MOS, she will likely make E-5. :)

Man, those Boards can be stressfull. LOL I still remember mine. :D I only missed one question, and that was about a football game that night. Sheesh, I was cramming for the Board, not watching sports.... but that is "current events". LOL

A few months later at my new duty station in Berlin, we were all waiting in line for the random pee test. One guy was reading the Army Times... looking at the points. Asked what I had, told him. I made the points cut. Was a very happy day. :) Kris will have hers soon I am sure.

She still needs to meet the PLDC requirement before making 5, also.

Must have just been an MP thing, but when I was in we had to be able to identify rank of all branches of service. :) Not like it really mattered though. ;)

No, not always. It depends on the circumstances, availability, mission, etc...

Ranks of all services? No, not just an MP thing, that is just basic soldiering. :)

congrats!......I just lost my 5 do to a stupid mistake...lol, hopefully i'll get it back in a couple of months.

nope army changed that reg....i dont have to go to pldc to become an e5 now...but before i go to the e6 board if have to go to plcs....kinda wierd

as of april first, if you are in a MOS that isnt 100%, and you are e4 with at least 4 years time in service and one year time in grade, they can drop points to 350 and you can be promoted to sgt automatically. as it stands now, everyone who meets that requirement will be automatically on the promotable list as of april first, 2005

What will they think of next?

Huh? It has been so for many years... before you went in in fact.
