If this is you, this will probably piss you off..

Like many of you, I often roam craigslist and the forums for good deals and to sell some items of my own. And as of recent I've noticed a trend starting to arise in people selling items. So. I have decided to say a few things about what I have experienced and that has pissed me off. If you are offended by what I say, you're probably the d-bag I'm talking about. Altho, these are experiences from craigslist and forums abroad. Not JUST naxja.

1- know what you are selling. Don't put something up for sale if you can't answer questions about it. Example: 'selling my lifted, geared 'xj' on 35's'. But when emailed you don't know what gears. How to tell what the gears are or if it's a shortarms or longarm lift.
FAIL.

2- don't change your price. Now. This can be read wrong. Lowering your price to sell an item is more than acceptable. But raising your price cuz you all of the sudden need more money out of it or didn't know what the hell you were selling is rude and makes you a giant d-bag!!!
Example: 98 'xj' lifted listed for 3,000 obo. When contacted the kid refused to take anything less than 3,300 for it.
FAIL

3- don't put something up for sale if you're unsure if you really want to sell it. What this entails. If you say something is for sale. Be willing to sell it. Don't back out. Also. If you're selling something but there are conditions or time frames involved, SAY SO!! Don't wait to inform a potential buyer after the fact. Be real and straight forward.

Basically. If you are selling or possibly selling something, don't be a c**ksucker. Be honest and forward about what you're selling. No. It's not plated in gold and no I'm not paying you what you paid 3 years ago for it.

If this rubs you wrong, tough-sh*t, it's prolly about you anyway.

i agree with all those and will add a few more that annoy me...

4. Put the make, model, and year of the vehicle being sold, or the vehicle the part goes to...i see countless adds for "cherokee for sale...$xxxx,xx" gee, the year and miles could be useful to know...or "jeep hood for sale" like it will miraculous fit all jeeps...

5. dont be a dingleberry...learn to spell

6. list a price, dont play the "best offer" game, then when i make an offer get all pissy about it being to low and some other guy was going to pay you 500 more than that...clearly he you still have it so he didnt actually pay you did he?

On a similar thought,

Percentage of tire tread left is a measurement not a opinion. Ie: .25" on a tire that was 1.0 new, is not 50%... I don't care if you would drive another 10k after it's bald.

Some people are just that dense.

I had some mounted tires advertised as spares. I listed the size in big bold letters in the title, then listed again in the ad. You know there were a few goobers that had to ask what size they were.

One guy came up, I looked at his heep and had to ask. Then I found a size match for his heep in my pile. I didn't plan on selling those, oh well!

Nope. Had a kick ass bagel and sunny d :D

but that's beside the point. I'm just tired of d-bag people that can't seem to get shit thro their heads.

I also feel everyone should have to list a phone number! I cant count how many times no one replied to my questions!

personally i never leave a phone number when i list stuff, you get too many dingleberrys and no speake de ingleshe types calling your phone at all hours... i use their initial email to weed out people who i can tell will be too annoying to deal with.:D

All of the above listed gripes are exactly why we have the For Sale Forum rules set up the way they are.

"Feeler" ads - folks that aren't sure they wanna sell their junk, but if they get enough interest (aka competition....) then they get serious.

Price posting required - Again, it eliminates butt-pain and keeps the seller honest. We ask that you stick to a price and if you discover you didn't ask enough.... either pull the ad and never re-post the item here, or take the loss and learn a lesson. Consider it paying it forward if you take a loss for your ignorance. DO NOT play the bidding war with members of this Chapter.

"Best offer" ads not allowed - Prime situation for bidding wars and we're not about that here. Now, it's totally ok to post a price followed by "or best offer" because that indicates that you're willing to negotiate for less than asking. Allowing ad posters to ask people to toss up their best offer just isn't good business.

Photos folks! - Pics can and generally will eliminate most if not all miscommunication about the item(s) for sale. Get with the program - it's easy to set up a photo hosting account and download pics. At the very least, be able to e-mail pics to interested people. If not, get with a moderator and we can host the pic(s) for you until the item sells.

Thanks for venting Mike - good points brought up in this thread!

haha, might be that i am hammered drunk right now, but i read your thread title, and the first line or two of the thread and immediately thought you were talking about me cause of the PM's we exchanged the other day.

i read on, then i read on and realized it wasn't.

/ drunk rant.

or it could be a seller is to stupid to answer a simple question ;)

I enjoy the weird/odd people on craigslist.
1. I hope they don't know what they have.
2. Not being able to spell could be for a lot of reasons. And they still maybe have stuff we want <shrug>
3. I post stuff I don't even have all the time to see if its something I could sell or to jog someones memory that they can sell that because I want it.
4. Every time you go to buy/look at something its an adventure regardless of who or even what the person on the other side of the transaction is. fun stuff.

The "$1" in the ad title bugs me. I often search for ItemX, knowing that I don't want to pay more than, lets say $100.00 for it. There are almost always several that have the $1 in the title, but the asking price is $9000.00. If I wanted to pay $9k for it, I'd have used that in my search!

I... for some reason, constantly go out of my way to piss these people off. i dont know why, but i always call, offer my $1 and enjoy the arguement.

The thing that irritates me(pretty much only on forums) is the lack of an items location. Like what CITY its located in. Then they don't even have a location listed in their profile. Makes no damn sense to me.

I'm searching for a cherokee. period.
I am not interested in, or going to buy your POS Kia, Vw, Audi or any other thing that isn't what I'm looking for just because you listed a bunch of keywords in your ad, asuipe.

My number one rant is when an individual has vehicle for sale and is asking retail price. Hey dumbass, you aren't a dealer! There is such a thing as private party value! rant over blaise
