I think my dog is dying

The way it looks, I don't think my dog is going to make it home from the vet. He was diagnosed with Cushings disease a couple months ago, and they said he would probably live a couple years longer. I found out just after I saw the tree branch sticking out of the roof of my Jeep, that Bruiser wasn't eating, and couldn't move, so my mom took him to get checked out. He still has Cushings disease (I'm not real sure what it is) but he had what appeared to be a tumor and his liver was enlarged as well. The vet said that if he dosen't make a huge improvement overnight that we're going to have to decide what to do.

He's been a member of the family since I was 10, so I can't really remember him not being around. We'll find out tomorrow what it would take to keep him comfortable, or if he would be better off somewhere else. I know there isn't much anyone can do to that is going to make me feel any better about this, and not too many of you even know me, but I had to tell someone.

Thanks for listening,
Bryan

Many of us have been through this, some more than once. It's never easy.

Say a prayer tonight to ask for His guidance on what's best, then follow your heart tomorrow. That's all you can do.

We're with you.

I'm really sorry man, I hope the pup pulls through. Its always tough to loose a pet, they become part of the family. Once again, sorry to hear that and I hope your dog pulls through.:D

Sorry to hear. Unfortunately all life eventually has to come to an end at some time. Do what is best for the dog, you will always have the good memories.

In the event he does not make it and while there is no dog that can take his place, I have found that like a man who was once happily married when he loses his beloved spouse, getting someone to fill in the place eases the pain and helps put you once again on a road to happiness. A new puppy will help ease the pain and new memories can begin.

Hey man,

I hope all goes well with your dog. We had to put our's down a year ago November 2nd. Odd that I remember the date? Not really, as she was my best friend for 14 years. Just be there with your dog, as they always know what is going on....they just do. It is a hard decision, but ask yourself if your dog would be happy just laying around being sick. It is for the better.

Hey man, im really sorry to hear about your dog. But, I presume youre at least 16 or 17 or older, and Im sure you have TONS of awesome memories with your dog.

Its hard on everyone to loose someone they love and I know how much the 4 legged one's can become a HUGE part of our lives.

I agree with what was said before, geta puppy, raise it from really young, make new memories.

of course he can never fill the emptiness inside from loosing a really close friend, but he can make a spot in your heart right next to it.

Hope all works out for you, good luck.

It looks like everything is fine now. He's moving a little slow, and dosen't play quite like he did before, but I think he's just a little tired from all of this. Thanks everyone for caring.

That's great news... watch for a trail pets thread next week, as soon as I sort through the 100's of pics I have of my critters, past and present.

Give 'im a big ol' hug and an extra cookie :-)
