nope, my aw4 is probably on its last legs and might croak when I flush the fluid, so I'm gonna get a spare before I do the flush. I'm standard-transmission-retarded still, learned to drive stick like four years ago and still sucked at it when my dad managed to total the only standard vehicle we owned by driving it under the back end of a semi truck.

I stared a thread on Bodybuilding.com in the weight loss section so with both threads and the contest I have no other choice but to hang on with it now:rolleyes::cool:

Ha! I'm on there too! You'll get tons of good info as long as you can weed through all the idiots...Brah :D. I'm sure you know this already.

Are you on a multi? If so which one? You'll want your B vitamins up there. You can also look into Bariatrics. A little pricy but it realy does work. My wife did it and lost 30#s, her last 30#s.

You MUST eliminate alcohole :tear:, any and all soft drinks (this includes diet), limit your sweets, and limit your carbs after a certain time of day ie. no carbs at night.

As I'm sure you're aware, cardio is a must. If you have trouble running don't be too hard on yourself. Say you can only run for 6mins without stopping. Great, the next time set a goal of 7mins and so on. Don't weigh yourself everyday and don't expect results too soon. It takes a lot of time and work, just enjoy it.

That's all based on my limited knowledge.

I forget if I already mentioned this - but drink water. It keeps your metabolism up apparently, dunno if it's actually helping me but I drink two or three liters a day without really intending to, and only about half a liter of soda a day.

I just read you're blog. My thoughts:

You should definitley take your training focus away from muscle building. It is very difficult to build muscle and lose fat at the same time. Sure you can get stronger but you will not gain overall mass while attemting to lose weight. Throw that out the window, for now. What's important is that you reduce your caloric intake and do cardio. Once you lose the weight, you can begin to build.

Your diet needs to remain healthy. You can not afford to cheat. No sugars other than breakfast. No soft drinks, nothing other than a ton of water, low fat milk, coffee and or tea. period.
Eat clean and eat often. Clean means no toppings on your foods. No sour cream with your baked potato, no cheese on your broccoli, no BBQ sauce on your chicken. You get the idea. You know what's healthy and what's not. Stay away from the not.
Often means, eat smal meals throughout your day. This is better because it's far easier to measure the calories you're getting this way. You're meals should be small portions. 50cal protine/40cal carbs/15cal fat for example. You'll have to calculate you're exact intake requirements. This will boost your matabolism. Be carfull though, it's easy to get carried away when eating often.

Your body can only process so much of that food you eat at one time. This means that all of those carbs you eat at a single LARGE sitting, only about 1/2 get metabolized. The rest are stored as fat. By eating small you're giving your body a chance to use that food as energy, instead of storing it as fat.

There are also dietary supplements that do a good job of curving hunger or cravings. You might want to look into them further. If not, just remember that when you're hungry, this is your body telling you that your metabolism is working.

Hang in there, living healthy is not a destination, it's a journey!

Edit: BTW, often is 5-6 times a day and about 2 hrs apart. ;)

Edit again: No pizza! and say goodbye to chinese food! :gag:
You will get stressed out during this. When this happens take your butt to the gym :D. Some people do allow one cheat day a week. Just be careful.

I've been told some of the sweeteners and such are as bad, if not worse that the stuff put in regular soda's. I've already started alot of what you suggested Deadman, now I just need to carry it through to the end.

Supposedly, studies on artificial sweetners have been done that show they still spike your blood sugar. If nothing else, the caffeine will spike your metabolism, then you'll crash. Key is to keep your metabolism up, and constantly up - that's where the small, frequent meals come into play, along with lots of water to keep you hydrated and keep your body free of toxins. Also, if you're doing the high protein/low carb-sugar diet, your body is breaking down fats and fatty acids for energy - which produces ketones....one of which is acetone. You definitely want your water intake up to flush that junk out of your system....

Yep, what J said. The big sweetner to stay away from is aspartame. It's in most diet teas, the ones that come in the 20oz bottle. It's also in low fat yogurt and a ton of other low/no fat pruducts. There have been studies linking it to all sorts of problems, some in the brain. Sorry, I don't have all of the info there.

There's nothing wrong with sugar as long as it's limited and not after a certain time. Artificial sweetners tend to confuse the body which inturn can cause an insulin spike for no good reason. Not to mention the stuff is bad, it's artificial. You might as well drink liquid plastic lol.

bjoehandley, I'm in no way trying to come off as an expert here. I'm not. These are just some things I've picked up from other people. I figured you were already aware of some, if not all of it, I just took a chance in posting just in case. Sometimes it's nice to have somebody reiterate what you already know, to you. I know it helps me.

Keep up the good work!
