I will either be driving down sometime friday and camping, or driving down early saturday morning.

It looks about 2 1/2 hours from Van nuys...What are the fees for camping, is it improved, etc.

Thanks

Chris
Campground is semi-improved, tables, fire rings, a porta potty, water, and then there's El Hill...

the cooler full of ice made it impossible for the next guy to take that line...

When did you hear the closing was going to happen after Labor Day?
We first heard it was going to close before summer...
then not at all.....

Which is funny, because I still have a copy of one of there original maps IN COLOR! It's fairly detailed and you can actually read it. Unlike their current one which is a B&W photo copy of a photo copy of a photo copy. I made some color copies of the original I have. Although the original I have is a little dirty and beat up from trail use, the copies I made came out pretty good. It's also funny I showed a color one to a gate attendant, and they had never seen one in color! LOL. It's probobly about 4 years old at least.

Also, there was some talk on SoCalXJ about a Labor Day run, see my other post (and cross post) for more info!

Sorry I can't join you guys this weekend, I'm in the process of moving. (Speaking of which, anyone in N. County, I'm in Vista, I could really use a hand with LIFTING, furniture, not Jeeps. I'm about the only one who can lift anything heavy, wife is frail, all the relatives have hurt knees, backs, etc. And I don't have many friends. LOL. And the ones I do have are out of town this weekend or live far away. email me backchannel if you can help: [email protected] )

:flipoff:

How hard are the trails down there? I'm up for anything, but i'm only at about 3" and 32 MT/rs.

It looks like I'll be camping down there friday night. When is everyone else planning on showing up?

Im meeting up with some jeeps in the morning 6am by my house (socal) then we are driving up to LCIR, we should be there about 7-730am. Then we wheel the trail and head back home by the evening (I dunno 5-6-7is pm)

Anyone bringing an on board welder (mines so heavy and dont want to bring if I dont have to)?

One of the wranglers in my group has a Premier Power Welder(stick). I'm sure he'll let you use it if you bring your own rod( 6011) but I can't really speak for him. I'll PM you Patrick with some contact info so we can meet up. I really want to see your King Coils in action.

Interested too, but I'm at 0" and 30" A/Ts. I can also only hit one day over the weekend that isn't Sunday, but really want to go somewhere that isn't local (especially if this is the last chance to hit it).

It can be tricky, but alot will be doable for you.

Right now, it sounds like it's gonna be a busy weekend there. I know of groups leaving the Woodland Hills area about 4 ish, the TO area about 1 ish, Ventura at 9 AM or so; all on Friday. A few more from the north may be leaving late Friday.

Powell from Just Runs will be leading a big group there Saturday morning, most coming from the SD area.

I think the bigger group of XJ's will be from the Ventura area.

Even though its only 45 minutes away i'm getting up at 4am Saturday and going up there. Anyone want to meet up at the station where the 76 intersects the 15?

-Matt
