I need help? XJ's rock

i have a 1989 suzuki samauri 1.3 liter 5 speed 4x4 and it is fully stock. i am wanting tips on how to make it to were i can sum up to a real xj.
i dont have that much money so i am looking for low budget idears.

Samurais are pretty sweet when they are built up. And they are cheap to work on. Ive never owned one but a guy I use to work with put Wrangler YJ leafs on it and got enough lift to fit 31s with the stock fenders if i remember right. Trim the fenders a bit and you can fit some beefy tires under there. He also had his spider gears welded for lockers.... read up on doing that if it is an option for you. He also swapped in the bigger 4 cylinder. I think it was a 1.6. He had himself a nice little wheeler that he could go flip for fun and tumble it back over with just a couple guys lol.
 
SPOA, 4:1 t-case gears, locker in the front, weld the rear, and some 31x12.5's and the sammi will kick ass. i got one right but am not able to wheel it all that much.

x2 on that but if you run 33's on it it will go anywhere, including atv trails since it is basically and atv with a cab and a steering wheel
