Just wanted to mention how awesome air tools are.

I was working on our lexus sc300, taking the exhaust off for the first time in it's life. All the hardware was rusted solid(even in az rust happens). I was laying on my back using a big breaker bar pulling down and just managed to lift myself off the ground. I switched and tried pushing up and was flexing my breaker bar to what I thought was an unsafe magnitude. I can bench 230-240so I put a lot of power and still those bolts would not budge.

I hook up the IR thunder gun, and I don't think I even had time to fully pull the trigger and they all zipped right off one at time like nothing.

Anyone have any awesome air tool success stories?

I hope OT is the right place as it's not a really a talk about tools but stories around the tools.

Have them all, IR and Senco.... if you really want a bang for the buck use Senco nailers for home projects. No need for three arms.. one to hold the material, one to hold the nail, the other to swing the hammer.

.

Sounds like you need a real breaker bar, but yes, air tools are great.

It's a craftsman breaker bar and never failed me before but I've also never seen it flex like I did today.

I've used that breaker bar with the handle from my floor jack on it in the past to get me out of jams before the air tools ha.

That's cute.

air tools make evreything easier. I don't bother with my breaker bars anymore unless an impact won't fit.

FWIW I'm a skinny bastard, so I have an assortment of LARGE breaker bars, cause 132lbs doesn't get it done with an 18" breaker bar. Most of mine are 30" or longer. The one I take on the trail for axleshaft replacement is 32"

Getting the big impact gun to fit into the places I need has become the biggest problem now. I finally got a big extension to hopefully help out a bit.

Extension+u-joint usually gets me there. There's jst some places it's not going to happen, I hate it when that hapens.

Be wary of the u joint, when you finally break it (and you will) things get hairy for the 2 seconds it takes to let go of the trigger. I don't hold onto the extension anymore...
