You have already made up your mind. Sell the XJ and get the Subaru.
I didn't spend a fortune on the ring, but I didn't skimp on it either. Also, we're both geologists, so I got a nice flawless diamond since it'd be something she'd really enjoy.
Eloping wouldn't have been bad, except she wanted to have a ceremony for her parents, though we're not spending a lot on it. We're really spending the bulk towards the honeymoon since that's where all the fun is. Whatever we don't spend is going towards our debt when we get back.
Giving other people a bunch of money every month is a serious drag.

I can understand why a flawless diamond is cool to you guys since you're geologists, but I intend to make a ring when the time comes. Not sure whether that'll involve 5 axis CNC or some casting... but either way it'll be an adventure.
This morning on my way to work, I think I figured it out. I think I just don't like my Jeep. I think I need a stock(ish) Jeep.
When I got this Jeep, our household income was much more than it is now. I don't have a lot of $ to throw at this thing and it seems like something always needs to be fixed and I'm kind of tired of fixing it. Seems like a lot of effort for little-to-no payoff.
