personally the next best 4x4 out there is a 1989 dodge raider or (montero there the same) they have full skid plates even on the gas tanks they also have limited slip diffs. the diffs are bulletproof and as big as a dana 44 they are tanks! the best stock trucks in my opinion, the engines are ok they could be improved but all in all their awesome look em up and you'll totally see what i mean
Actually if you guys have heard of an isuzu vehicross they are tanks for real they are real advanced 4x4s. u can run them stock and they will out perform most all stock 4x4s hands down! plus they r not that spendy considering u dont have to do much to them exept tires. they really came out as the first crossover and were just awesome.

Ok, so maybe they're not the next XJ, but they certainly might be something offroad. The suspension is soft, yes. But thats an easy fix. If you get rid of the IFS, they could be something.
